Some of you might remember the thread I made about how I confiscated some cigarettes from a group of 12 - 13 year olds and pushed one of them around as self defence. No, this isn't something I do for a hobby, it's just something that happens. I didn't want to beat up the kid so I sucked it up and paid for my groceries. While I was doing that I noticed that the fucker who cut me on the line was looking at me outside. I knew what was gonne happen and I though 'Oh boy'. When I exited the store his mouth just wouldn't shut up. "You had a problem with me, you little shit?", he shouted and started to walk towards me. I told my girl to run along and I just stood there waiting for him to come to me. He was basically hugging me when he stopped, because he came so god damn close that I could've charged him for sexual molestation. I told him that it's not nice to cut people on the queue. I don't know what set him off, but he threw a punch at me right after I said that. I dodged and pushed him to the ground. While he was gathering himself off of the pavement he was ready for a second punch, but too bad for him, I was getting ready too. He rushed towards me and threw another punch, which I dodged again, but this time I threw a punch too. BOOM, right in the fucking kisser and he was taking count. Not the ordinary 1, 2 ,3, he was taking count like January, February, March... I noticed that his friends were just around the corner looking at me like I was fucking mad or something. I told them to pick him up and take him somewhere else to recover. I also told them that this is what happens when you cut someone on the line. In this situation, there is really no excuse for OP punching the kid, no matter how persistent the kid was. When I was about 15 or 16 a little 13 year old attacked me. Back then I was incredibly thin, not especially tall and very light and so the difference here is even less extreme than that between the OP and his attacker. Regardless, this little shit was throwing wild punches and pathetic low kicks to my shin area. I didn't hit him once. I dodged around and made aggressive blocks against his attacks that may have bruised his shins and forearms but little more. I laughed as I did this because the situation was so hilarious and eventually the kid got bored and frustrated and gave up. I walked away and it was over. Obviously not all attackers are gonna get so bored they walk away but if the situation persists then you should be able to use the horrible punching technique of your attacker to your advantage and use some form of lock to stop the situation. When you've got someone's shoulder held down and their arm bending the wrong direction, it's pretty easy to talk sense into them and walk away. Even if the kid lands a few punches while you're trying to do this, big fucking whoop - he's a weak little kid with poor reach and poor power. Suck it up. Basically, OP sought out the fight from the start and lacked the technical or mental capacity to deal with the situation properly.

Sure, I know a lot that are around 6', some even taller than me ( > 6'2") but the vast majority aren't that tall. I'm not suggesting that OP's attacker barely scraped 5' or something - even a matter of 3-4" can make a huge difference in psychological impact, as well as in reach. What's more important, however, is their weight and build; very few 14 year olds go to the gym and few have naturally filled out yet. Heavy 14 year olds are mostly fat kids which would work to OP's advantage anyway.
