That's called learning a lesson around here. You did the right thing. Yes you could have gone about other ways to settle the matter, but you didn't do anything wrong in my opinion. The bottom line is that OP is an adult and the other dude was a kid. He didnt act like an adult, but lowered himself in the level of a child.
