A lot of medical advancements came out of the horrible experiments done by doctors in Nazi Germany. As much as it hurts to see a dog like that, it is for the greater good of humanity and possibly other species as a whole. 'Don't play god' is an archaic way of thinking, humanity will never progress if we don't push the bounds of technology and nature.
Can this help make people live longer?

Setting aside the fact that this is fake, the technological implications of this (if it were possible) would be amazing. Humans wouldn't need human bodies to function. If a person's body were to be badly damaged in an explosion their head (maybe even just their brain) could be transplanted into a new body.

but there is an awful lot you'd have to get right first.
Guess what I just thought of.

More like this.
I don't see what this experiment accomplishes. It seems like a waste of life.
So you don't like the idea of disembodied heads?

I dont know how much this counts but they did make an article about this on cracked. I tend to believe cracked.

I can't find any reliable sources which prove that these experiments actually did happen, but my skepticism is waning a bit. What I've read so far is that these were tests conducted by the Soviet Union... no wonder they failed.

I feel terrible after watching this video.
I understand rats or other things, but a dog?
Consider that this dog had to have been alive when they removed it's head from it's body. Consider the pain, fear and confusion it had to experience, even if it were put under massive anesthesia for the process.
Just stop it, just shut it down, he's already gone, why won't you just let him go? ;_;
So if I ever get deadly cancer or a fatal gunshot wound I would like for this to happen. It would be nice because I would be able to live a little longer but mostly because It would be nice to know I would be pushing forward science.

You would almost certainly end up as the centre of a huge ethical debate. There would be riots, you would be cast out as an abomination against whatever god there is. And think of the traumatic effect on your family.
No, best to quit while you're a head.
:downsrim:
But its the only chance I bet to getting a new robot body.
It cannot feel or feel itself or anything...it's kinda cruel.
