Next week is my Birthday too :smile:, but we may be evicted before that. Either way, Happy birthday to you because I'll forget by then, but that sucks what happened. I hope everything turns out fine and you get a new bike and somehow maybe the bone breaking turns your legs into super legs and you run without getting tired at 50mph.
A similar thing happened, i was passing in front of a car waiting at an intersection on my bike, and as i was almost past the front of the car the jerk accelerates! he didn't look both damn ways before going and he pushed me onto the road he was turning into, i managed to keep myself upright on the bike, if i hadn't, or he pushed me any further, i would have been pancaked by traffic.
so i pick myself up and carry my cycle off the road, the jerk doesn't even stop and speeds off! if i ever see that bastard in his RAV4 again...
I got hit by a car a few months back when I was on my dirtbike
Woke up in the hospital. Few broken ribs, some scratches and a few cuts, a shit ton of bruises - but my life still intact. And hey, I got oxycodone!

Yeah, I especially love it when they're driving by and not only slow up traffic, but take their attention off the road and create potential for a second collision.
For what it's worth, it's rather unsafe to ride on the sidewalks. You should ride on the surface roads, bearing in mind traffic, and keeping as safely far to the right as possible.
And make yourself visible! Most traffic accidents involving bicycles and automobiles are simply because they don't see you. Ride to the right, but if you have to, ride right in the middle of the street (just don't piss anyone off, do this only if you can match the speed limit). If you dart inbetween cars, your chances of getting hit increase greatly.
Also put reflective tape on the bike, and get one of those cheap clamp on red tail-lights and set to 'flash' mode when driving the bike places where cars/truck/etc drive.
You should have been paying attention, maybe you wouldn't have hit the car.
Shouldn't be riding on the sidewalk, especially not at "full speed"
I had once a motorcycle accident.
I was the only one who got hurt.
Then some asshole proceeds to hit a bicyclist and drives away.
And I memorized his register plate and informed the police.

Whenever I am in car with someone else, all that bikes ever do is ride around like dicks, ignore traffic lights and expect everyone to move out of their way, they don't give a shit about it. If you actually weren't being a dick then I feel sorry for you, but I don't think I've seen any bike rider not be a dick.

Bike riders are alright are round where I live, the car drivers are dicks though.
I ride my bike regularly and I know better than biking on the sidewalk. It's mostly your fault OP.
