While this extreme attention seeking often leads to self diagnosis and other exaggerated claims about themselves it's easy to think that they're just lying or pretending and don't need help. But I think it's important that these people get proper help. I'm not directing this at you specifically but in general a lot of people feel this way about attention seeking.
It might sound insensitive, but I don't really care about whether they have a mental disorder or not. That's not an excuse to act like a dick. If you can't help being a dick - get medical help or get treated like everyone else and then cry about it. And even then, I'm going to kinda remain skeptical about their issues when their entire community has a hobby of collecting illnesses and sticking them all over their figurative clothes like badges. They invent new ones for Christs' sake. They can't all be suffering from various shit, can they. Certainly there're a lot of people who genuinely suffer from different conditions, but I doubt many of them will act the sort of way as to give off these "faking it" vibes.
With all these weird ass trends going on with other kin and bronies and whatnot, it feels like there are either more man-children than there used to be, or the've just found a way to get themselves recognised in the public more, whereas before no one would take them seriously and tell them to grow up.

Jim is back. All is right with the world. [editline]6th April 2015[/editline] Oh my god when he started reading those confessions I had to pause the video so I could breathe again
There's only one man on the earth who can actually be a planet-kin, Ahmed Angel, and that's because he is planet.
What gets me is when people compare them to transgendered people saying that it's the exact same thing.
Well they mostly are people trying to satirize transsexuals. Not saying it's not annoying but that's kinda why it happens.
Is there something wrong with the audio? It's murdering my ears.
The weirdest thing about otherkin is that nobody knows how many of them are satire accounts. Some of the most random, normal-seeming ones have turned out to be /pol/, and some of the most extreme and bizarre ones have turned out to be real people. But then you get /pol/ laughing at the fake otherkin accounts made by /pol/ and it gets so fucking confusing.
14:47 "BEEP BOOP TUMBLERBOT DETECTS INDIVIDUAL OUTSIDE SELF-AWARE THINKING..MUST PURGE"
.....and here I thought they were just a subcategory under "furry".
Someone dismissing fictionkin on the grounds of 'how do you go about your life as something that doesn't exist' while calling dragonkin legit. The irony is fucking mindblowing.
Well they mostly are people trying to satirize transsexuals. Not saying it's not annoying but that's kinda why it happens.
I doubt this is true. I'm sure some people equate transgender/sex with *-kin but besides terfs and the occasional trans-denier people seem to be aware of the difference. Namely that trans has physiological explanations and is a real thing, while no matter how hard you believe in the heart of the cards you'll never be a dragon/vampire/phone booth-kin.
Vulva kin Also wtf was that last bit
I doubt this is true. I'm sure some people equate transgender/sex with *-kin but besides terfs and the occasional trans-denier people seem to be aware of the difference. That kind of stuff really does shit all over transgender folks. It's not like TERFs/trans-deniers require any more ammo, but it certainly is pretty disrespectful.

Otherkin comparing themselves to trans people is ridiculous and inexcusable.
Someone dismissing fictionkin on the grounds of 'how do you go about your life as something that doesn't exist' while calling dragonkin legit. The irony is fucking mindblowing.
It could be argued that the cultural concept of a dragon dating thousands of years back is much more "real" then some anime character invented ten years ago thats the most sense I can make out of it
This is fucking disgusting.
Oh I thought we were speaking about people on the outside comparing the two. Nevermind then. Otherkin comparing themselves to trans people is ridiculous and inexcusable.
Well, it's both. Some people from the outside, as well as some otherkin try to compare the two. First ones claim "both are bullshit", latter ones go "hey we're as legit as trans-folks!".
Iem a ampukin, Ie feel the need to amputate parts of my body Ie am not comfortable with. As long as Ie live at my moms Ie have to pretend though :( Too bad shes a stupid bitch to not understand Ie could seriously hurt myself over stupid decisions like this!
towelrack-kin reporting in
is there anyone who's a napkin
I am a Quarter-Endothermic Buttkin, and therefore identify as a Hot Piece of Ass
I am a snowflake-kin and this image greatly offends my kind. It displays multiple snowflakes as looking identical to each other, one of which is is displayed four (4) times in one image. It is widely proven fact that no two snowflakes look the same, and implying such only goes on to propagate a vicious stereotype.

I identify as a Nvidia card because I can run fast and i'm super hot. And I'll also burn down your house. That's perfectly normal behavior for a Nvidia card though so don't judge me.
I identify as Jim_Carreykin
I'm a fuckin
it's easier to assume the otherkin accounts are just trolls, because I believe at least 60% of them are. Lemme explain: months and months ago, I thought these people were serious. At the time I was just browsing tumblr-focused reddits and found a thread dedicated to creating fake otherkin accounts with the most bullshit kins. There were rock kins, dumplingkins, tissuekins etc. that seemed entirely believable.
There's no way half of the people actually go along with this shit. 95% of these accounts are satire, it just doesn't make sense for the sheer amount of them

If you have one registered account, you can just click 'create new blog' over to the right, and you get a sub-blog, which can have its own unique URL, theme/userpicture, posts, askbox, and so on. There's no requirement it needs to be linked to your main account in any way shape or form, you can follow it with your own account and see the posts on your feed like they're somebody else's, and you've got lots of space to make several of these, and can delete them without a trace to either avoid backlash, or make it out like your strawman antagonist got flustered over not being able to win the argument against you and deleted their blog out of embarassment. There's also the ability to submit anonymous ask submissions to yourself, for quick and easy argument setups, and you're capable of editing the HTML of posts, including other users' names and commentary (though the new interface makes that a bit harder, haven't looked for the html function). Lots of media sites like reddit, 4chan, facebook pages, 9gag, etc share JPG-riddled screencaps of conversations (often with usernames cropped out of the comment chain) so it becomes even harder to validate something ever happened in the first place it's pretty noticeable at times when people set up arguments over hot topics, or simply make bad jokes with oddly complex setups. A single person can derail a comment chain by making a counter-argument and backing himself up with a dozen seemingly random other individuals. 4chan anons do this all the time, but it's a lot harder to call out 'samefag' against tumblrs compared to a wall of anon replying to anon. Redditors love their street cred and can come up with lots of weird entertainment to get that attention. It's cool, I don't mind a manufactured story so long as I get a laugh out of it. 4chan loves to trollbait and tend to just bait themselves into trolling. There was even a '4chan raid on tumblr' situation a few months ago and that was just all sorts of self-aware with people on both sides making up stories that the other was doing weird shit. I'd have to guess practically all of the weird pronoun shit we see is either straight up manufactured or general shitposting. People who create facades and alternate characters to represent themselves tend to do so just to break down their own social ice, not to be obnoxious and put themselves on the spot outside of the weird otherkin stuff, tumblr is, as always, what you make of it. For lots of people it's pure hipster bullshit photography, for others it's nonstop porn gifs, and others still it's discussion communities for people who like certain TV shows or actors. I rarely see the weird reactionary side of the site unless it gets reposted to show how much of a joke it is, so who knows how much of it is even happening regularly
