This advertising is working on me. I want a ford focus now.
Not real enough. Snake isn't turning everything into a question. "Ford Focus SE?" "EPA?" "A rear-view camera!?" "36 highway MPG?"
This is proof that david hayter can still do MGS1 Solid Snake, and that the Voice Director was probably terrible for MGS4 and on. I wanted hayter for MGS5 damnit
I imagine Snake as more of a Mustang Cobra sort of guy
I mean I'm glad to see Hayter still doing Snake but doing snake to shill for cars is an abstract feel

Had a rental one a while back, it's nothing special. Nice ad tho.
I liked Sutherland as Big Boss... you know, when he does speak.
I disagree with Kojima when he mentioned that one of the reasons he wanted Sutherland was because he needed a man who was very expressive. When, in honest fuck, was Big Boss in the Phantom Pain ever fully expressive with his facial animations? He looks dull, like, 95% of the time. Anything that Sutherland could do, I think, David could have done.
But think of it this way, people would rather spend less on a car, and more on games. Not the other way around so the advertisement fails :v:
I actually wanted to see what the Ford Focus SE looked like after watching this, maybe I could've gotten one but it looks so ugly :v: It looks pretty average actually, eh, but I did check it out so the ad kinda worked for me.
this is weird

I don't think Hayter has the subtlety to do that.

That, and they wanted to get rid of Hayter for a while. Apparently he had to re-audition for his roles as Snake. So when they bring up "facial expressions" my eyebrow raises as I now think they were trying to make up shit. That said though I don't mind Sutherlands voice. I just wish Big Boss had more lines in the cutscenes. He just looks like a stunned mullet everytime someone talks near him like "bwaaa?"

It's that Sutherland was "subtle expression" all the time. And it doesn't work for Snake. Kojima's writing for Snake in this game overall was just a terrible idea, taking a drastic step from what the series always had been. From Snake being incredibly talkative, an engaging character of the story, he's a silent protagonist in general for MGSV. Characters are talking at him. In fact, I'm trying to remember a time he actually spoke to Skullface. The only time I can find is [sp]when Skullface is dying, and Big Boss is asking about the three English strains.[/sp] This game does so many things right, but some of the things it gets wrong, it gets terribly wrong. This is easily the worst direction choice Kojima has made, imo.
The best part is that it all just fits Kojima's writing perfectly

Ocelot isn't even a shadow of what he was in MGS2 3 and 4. Not even MGS1, where he wasn't as outrageously entertaining as the other games. I get that they were taking a more serious tone, but imo, all the seriousness and the "behold Snake turning into a demon" feel of it was completely lost, the way the game was. Which is sad, because I feel like the game was selling itself on being all about revenge and becoming evil because of it and because of being on the brink of the shit hitting the fan. It lacked the emotion displayed in a show like Breaking Bad, where you DO see the main character turning evil.

I, however, call that a load of bullshit and say that this Ocelot is the worst ever, where the only Ocelot thing he did was [sp]help behind the scenes with setting up Big Boss and Venom Snake, and then hypnotizing himself.[/sp] The closest we got to him twirling revolvers was when he handed Quiet a gun, and that only lasted a second. Despicable. Like, I wasn't expecting Ocelot to go "Ah-ha, I was a quadruple agent the whole time!" or to be twiddling with his guns as much as he did in MGS3, but you could have replaced Ocelot with literally any original character, and nothing would have been lost, within MGSV. The only purpose Ocelot being in this game serves is to help support Ocelot's motives always being towards helping Big Boss, from there on out.
well this advert worked i went and looked up the car
The entire storytelling feel and style of Metal Gear Solid V felt very.. western. The MGS series has always tried having western cinematic storytelling, but there's always been that quirky japanese element to it, like the fact that Metal Gears even existed in the first place, or the closet scientist otaku that pees himself, or the dork super agent with a japanese codename, or the cyborg ninjas. There was this 'unique feel' throughout the entire series, even when MGS4 preferred shaky cam and tried so hard with its storytelling and deliberate culling of colors, that was inherently Kojima. Then MGSV comes in and if it weren't for the fact that it literally carries the torch form Peace Walker and didn't share the characters, anyone and everyone would think it's probably a different series entirely. The few quirks of the previous games that remain are odd things like a focus on Quiet's T&A, a brief pee moment, a bit of the batshit stuff involving Psycho Mantis and some weird shit that rarely pops up or is entirely in optional content like the Jehuty arm. The entire game, the entire plot, is devoid of quirky. Everyone's an asshole of some degree, everyone is paranoid. Camera angles all attempt to feel in-scene like a camera man is right with the story the entire time, creating a gritty sense that's wholly independent of the rest of the series. It's like Kojima both wanted to close the book on Metal Gear and not do Metal Gear at the same time.
The entire storytelling feel and style of Metal Gear Solid V felt very.. western.
Fun fact, this is the first Metal Gear game to be dubbed in Japanese. The lip-syncing is done for English, with the Japanese audio recorded and put over it.
Campbell even pointed out that Solid Snake never used Fulton extraction after he mentioned it. 10/10 for acknowledging the lore.
Campbell even pointed out that Solid Snake never used Fulton extraction after he mentioned it. 10/10 for acknowledging the lore.
I was about to be really angry about the Fulton mention, but they fixed it.
It's like Kojima both wanted to close the book on Metal Gear and not do Metal Gear at the same time.
i think the best case scenario would have been kojima taking some time off from metal gear and doing something new before doing mgs 5

Him handing Quiet one of his guns to show off her skills, is what tells us that there still IS a bit of Ocelot in there, which means he just wasn't played as he should had been played. Not only that, even when Ocelot isn't being the Ocelot we all know and love in other games (when he's actually being reasonable), he still displays his ludicrous traits. Not on MGSV though. Most he does is wave his hands and act like a prosecution lawyer, or being a very modest support character. He doesn't shows that personality shown during his fight with Snake, nor the one when he stole RAY. And those are pretty reasonable, in comparison to MGS4 and 3. He's just the most reasonable advisor/support character ever, and that pisses me off. He could have told us to not kill Quiet in the most "evil scientisty" kind of ways, with the evil winks and the "muahahah!" (or just that kind of talk he has), typical of someone with alternative plans, instead of "no, bring her here, over and out *click*". [editline]11th April 2016[/editline]
i think the best case scenario would have been kojima taking some time off from metal gear and doing something new before doing mgs 5
I just ask myself: was it really necessary to rush it and having it end up unfinished? Forever will hate Konami for that, which I think is the only one to blame. Kojima aswell, sorta, because of the nearly impossible and expensive game he made, but Konami ultimately mucked it up. They could have had him finish it completely and THEN call it quits.
I really like the Ford Focus. I got one myself I few months ago, best car I ever had!
