Personally i think the point where you've reached the mary sue event horizon is when you fist fight nemesis and somehow win.
I cannot even imagine who they would put in that kind of a role. Ryan Reynolds is at least a similar enough personality/body type but there's no way he'd do it, and you would need one hell of a budget to pull off anything remotely devil-may-cry like.
I don't understand why they'd try to make a movie around a game that's famous for its combat instead of its story. Plus I'm seconding they might make it around the DMC5 monstrosity Dante just to rub shit in the faces of the fans
