• ID Cards in USA-Yay or Nay?

You already have an ID card- your drivers license. While most places accept this as such, all US licenses made after 2012 will contain RFID chips and double as official standard ID cards. To go over the border into Canada, you must have either a passport or an enhanced RFID license or ID card (the ID card will be replaced by an enhanced RFID license when you get one). I have the latter.
it's spelled "yea or nay"
In Estonia we have ID-cards. I don't know exactly if they're compulsory, but everyone has one. It's pretty useful at times. You use it for identification, public transport (if your bus gets stopped and checked for tickets or cards) and a myriad of other everyday things. All in all, it's nice to have one.
Military ID's and Drivers Licenses all work as identification.

Compulsory? no. But I never fail to carry around my license and always remember to cooperate with the police to the full extent of my ability, just to avoid confrontation. I encourage everybody to carry around a form of identification at all times though.
Drivers License should be enough.
We already have an ID card. They call it a Drivers License, or a State Identification Card.
This. /thread.
Driver's License, Social Security card, I'd say we've got as much as they need.
It doesnt matter to me, but I feel that if it did I wouldn't mind. I fing it frustrating when a shop sais I need to be 15 to buy and energy drink, and I need ID, and I'm like, who at 15 has ID? I don't have a drivers licence and I dont carry my passport or my birth citificate.
who at 15 has ID?
You'd be surprised. I got mine at 15. Then switched out for Permit, now License. They card for energy drinks da fuck?
So, there are quite a big number of countries with a compulsary ID Card, aka Indetification Card, which can be used for many reasons. Well, to begin with, there are a number of countries that does not requires a compulsary ID card. To name a few: Austria, Canada, Finland, Mexico, Italy, Iceland, France, Sweden, Switzerland and of course, the United States. Now, the United States being the largest member of the group, and most of the people here are Americans, I would like to ask, what is your opinion on having Indetification Cards? Do you think the United States should implement it?
WRONG! Where did you get information like that? I'm 15 and I have ID, Drivers lisence that will work as an ID, Passport and Social security card. (all ID's)
Giving ID for an energy card, wtf. Never happened to me, I used to buy monsters at like 13, back then I didn't realise how bad they are for you. On topic: I don't think we should.
test test
In Canada you do pretty much need some form ID and sometimes two to get into bars, and any medical buildings like walk-in clinics, physiotherapists, etc.
So, you can get into Canada with just the new RFID license/ID? That's great. We used to go over to Canada a lot(I live about a mile from the bridge to Canada), but we haven't been able to lately because you need a stupid passport now.
whats so stupid about it? just stop being lazy and dig out your passport
What many Americans don't realize is that their names go into a database whenever they get a driver's license, register to vote, go to school, whatever. A lot of these give you cards as well.
Fix'd
no amount of british is a good amount of british
what the fuck is wrong with a driver's license/school ID/passport/etc.
We already have an ID card. They call it a Drivers License, or a State Identification Card.
Those are optional though, the topic is about mandatory cards.
No idea, I have to carry one at all times says (our) law and I don't have any problem with that because I have my wallet with me always and obviously I have my ID card in my wallet. ID card here is pretty cool though. I can travel with it to any country that is part of the EU plus a few extra ones in Europe (and Turkey). It can also help you out some times, like last time a friend of mine didn't see a cop pretty next to him and he threw some empty can on the ground. The cop came to him and asked him to pick up the can and throw it away (hurr). He wanted to see an ID, he showed it and they let him go with just a 'warning'. I am pretty sure that if he didn't have one with him, he would be fined for not having one with him plus because he threw the can on the ground.
I had a required ID card when I was 12~13. I flew over to my relatives by myself and needed some form of state ID thanks to being a minor, but this was a few months after 9/11, so maybe that's changed.

I wouldn't make it so people have to, but I do think all adults should and most do.
I refuse to carry my papers to be inspected by the gestapo, even if they implemented this i would never carry one. :tinfoil:
It makes me feel badass to carry around an ID. At school they are like " can I see your school ID" and I'm like "No problemo" and whip it out.
I already lose my School I.D. 10^24 times/Year, i'd hate to see how this turns out.

I don't necessarily believe any or all of it myself, but how the hell does the average person really know what's going on?
