Yes, wine is praised as a good thing in the Bible. It's even called a gift from God.
On the other side, it also says to not get drunk and to always have self-control. I'm not sure how you could argue that smoking pot wouldn't also fall into those latter categories.
Well, there is an argument to be made not only for the non-equivalence of alcohol impairment to one's will vs marijuana impairment (especially with a tolerance built up), but also about it's entheogenic properties as evidenced by it's potential role as an ingredient in holy anointing oil. The oil itself is commanded not to be made willy nilly, but the ingredients are not.
I'm not sure what you're point is. Yes, you're right, most people today drink to get drunk. I'm not sure why that's relevant to what the Bible says about getting drunk (it explicitly forbids it).
With that said, you might be surprised about the number of people, mostly religious, who drink alcohol without any intention of getting drunk.
As a Christian, I feel like I have a good say on this.
First off, God made Marijuana as a gift for mankind, it was for food.
"Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat." … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
Genesis 1:29-31
In the 10 Commandments it is said that you shouldn't hold it as a false god.
But that isn't only for Marijuana, that is for pretty much everything, even a Golden Calf Leg.
It was also used for relaxation too.
Besides that, he doesn't really say it's a Sin to smoke it.
The only Sin is abusing it, getting addicted to it, but that also goes for other Drugs too, not just Marijuana itself.
For all we know, eating tons of Food and getting addicted to it is a Sin.
Anyway, I just want to put it in other perspective.
By your logic, Men should still have control over Women, incest would be normal, Slaves too, and so on.
But as Society changes, so does the Bible.
The bible shaped our Society, and Society shapes the Bible.
But most of us Christians go to the Bible, to learn about what God says about it, and if God doesn't say it specifically, we talk about it with others and figure out how it fits in and what not.
