The worst part about this is that his mom shows complete disregard for his passion; music. She doesn't care about it at all. That's the worst. It sucks so much when someone who's supposed to love you just takes a massive shit on the thing you love most, and outright disrespects you and what you do because they "just don't see the point." It's horrible, and I know exactly how this guy felt when it was happening to him. You just feel...worthless. Like a sack of shit. Like nothing you do matters. I'm proud of him for trying to keep at it, but it wears you down. A lot.

Yeah, I didn't have the worst childhood but it wasn't exactly chipper. Dad just had some anger issues stemming from where he group up and the problems he faced. Not excusable but he wasn't really a monster.

My mother is the exact same way, up to a point. After that she just breaks things until I give up on anything I might have to say.
She went as far as taking me in the principle's office and demanding the phone that I paid for or I would be withdrawn near the end of my senior year. It was promptly run over and broken, and I wasn't even living with her at the time. I had to move out 2 months before this because of her controlling attitude and threats to ruin my graduation. About a year later now, and I've been struggling with bills/rent and she acts like it's my fault because I moved out. She didn't kick me out I guess, but she made it bad enough that I [I]had[/I] to move out. Her words were verbatim "If you do not leave then I will make your life a living hell." Now I have to stay with her for 2 weeks before I ship out to basic training, and the whole time I'll be hearing about how bad I was to her.
