It's funny because this won't be the last time you hear of the vocaloids. They are preparing a English Version for Miku and possibly more vocaloids soon. i just hope None of the Music artists in the US Catch on to this vocaloid shit and ruin it Here's some good musik
The music is mediocre in my opinion, but the hologram technology is great.
It's so pointless, going to see a animated concert is one thing like seeing "Gorillaz" but cheering at the screen and waving lights and all that shit. Basically treating an animation like its a real person is just retarded.
Gorillaz fanbase does the same shit. http://bit.ly/esW98g stop complaining

Vocaloid is 90% fanservice (woops we just decided to make our hologram have a miniskirt and be attractive) and 10% music. Oh, well. Citizens in Asian countries sort of have to find creative ways to get aroused, because uncensored porn is banned there.

In all honesty, the hologram stuff doesn't look that bad. It reminds me of Gorillaz concerts, in other words, it's creepy and awkward.
wtf asia

I actually discovered vocaloids last year with someone posting this concert on FP. Now I have over 500 songs... Also anime does not equal fanservice automatically.
Still don't get the popularity.... Not gonna complain but if I wanna listen to music done by tech I'll listen to techno or chiptunes.
I consider vocaloids to be more voice tech than anime imo. It just got the thing of being combo'd with Anime. i wouldn't be suprised if this can be used in medical stuff soon so people who have voice problems can talk

If they wanted people to focus on the music as opposed to the hologram, they would have made it average-looking.

It's microsoft sam with a skirt for fuck sake
Unfortunately they'd have to sing everything, as vocaloids (strangely) pretty much suck at talking normally.
Okay, I didn't want to, but am I the only one who thought they sucked at singing? They have no feeling, no oomph or at least I didn't feel any.
It's microsoft sam with a skirt for fuck sake
Actually Instead of being 100% computer generated, the vocaloid tech uses voice actors to records notes for the voice and letters/characters and all that and combines it into a software voice pack. Like Miku is voiced by Japanese voice actor Saki Fujita if you really wanted to and knew how to do it you could make your voice be a vocaloid voice and all that. Too bad those voice packs don't end well unless you have alot of time to make/edit the voiceovers.
i wouldn't be suprised if this can be used in medical stuff soon so people who have voice problems can talk
Vocaloid is not text-to-speech, it's probably recordings of someone singing with drastic changes to pitch and depth by a team of audio engineers If it's really small clips spliced together, it's probably edited for flow, too. There's no way it could be used real-time.

I don't mean to bash this, its personal taste after all but I mean, Symphony of Science has more feeling behind it and it auto-tunes scientific greats....that's it.
Many artist are completely OK with Autotuning so are most people who listen to their songs, Whats the big deal if the entire thing is computer?
a person can dream. maybe when the Software tech and hardware tech is really good it can be realtime.
If we ever got to the point where we had programs which could edit small clips for flow in real-time there would be much more advanced text-to-speech software already. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline]
Many artist are completely OK with Autotuning so are most people who listen to their songs, Whats the big deal if the entire thing is computer?
The entire thing isn't computer. It still sounds awful, in my opinion.
Xolo - The entire thing isn't computer. It still sounds awful, in my opinion. Then don't listen to it. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.
Many artist are completely OK with Autotuning so are most people who listen to their songs, Whats the big deal if the entire thing is computer?
I hate most autotuning and I've heard so much of it that I can tell when its there and not. Any vocals in music for me are all early ninties back to 30's. Anything after that is instrumental only.
I mean, the result of whatever techniques they use is complete monotone, ridiculously high-pitched singing. There are no redeeming things about Vocaloid.
My friend showed this to me. it blew me away that holograms are now a reality but its kind of sad its not being used for even cooler things that doesnt involve the "moe" I dont have anything wrong with vocaliods but I would rather have it be used for making flying dragons and junk. Also are gorrilaz ever going to be able to do this?
