It was my understanding that the slugs in the little sisters were sea floor creatures indigenous to the general Rapture area that they discovered to secrete ADAM by Rapture scientists. Effectively, from what I've heard, they'd be retconning the entire story so that you can have hookshot rollercoasters and an angry George Washington clone then. I'm not saying that the idea is bad, but I'd hope I'm wrong about this as one of Bioshock's defining features was its awesome story.
Why'd they retcon half the story if they can just calim this to be a different universe? I recall having heard from the devs that the Bioshock series is not defined by Rapture, but by the general story of a fallen utopia based on failed ideals, (mixed with crazy genetic shit).
That chick totally has tuberculosis.
I thought the dragon thing in the end was toothless v:v:v
It's not the same universe as the first Bioshock games, sheesh. Do you think the scientists in Rapture would've been all like "WHOA THIS IS AWESOME" upon discovering Adam if they had such similarly crazy shit in 1912 already?
Well the scientist at Columbia aren't the same as those of rapture are they? Note that both cities where lost from the actual world, and it seems this one doesn't use ADAM the same way as Rapture (Example: in the video, you drink the plasmid, but in Bioshock 1/2, you inject it via a needle.
The art direction looks great, still has the Bioshock feel though it's in different setting. The gameplay looked a bit more comfortable, but I can decide on that just yet. And thankfully we will play as normal person again, I didn't want B2 mainly because the idea of Big Daddy as main protagonist wasn't my taste.

ADAM came from the slugs and were discovered during the making of Rapture. This city has to be using something different. Maybe it's just some sort of tonic that alters the DNA but it can't deal with ADAM (and if it does i'm going to punch one of the writers in the face)
I can't wait to not buy this game, it looks really damn retarded.
well that's your loss, the rest of us will be playing good games sorry you had to miss out [editline]12:38PM[/editline] also I have a feeling the woman would find breathing a lot easier if she took off the damn corsett
"You're only making him angrier!" "HE WAS ALREADY ANGRY" This game will be awesome, scripted or not. [editline]12:40PM[/editline]
the locals don't seem to be very fond of the guy you play
Someone offered him a drink, they only got mad when you took the guys shotgun and shot him
Looks interesting alright.
Still wish I could see rapture before everyone went crazy from the perspective of a soviet or american spy or somthing.
Flashbacks anyone?
Its a big grand daddy!
Fucking scripted
Way to complain about something that doesn't make a difference, if it wasn't scripted I'm sure that doing this would be complicated and probably never would be pulled off. At least you are able to experience it, the only time scripted events suck are in cut-scenes.
The devs said in an interview that the player could've chose not to use Elizabeth's powers nor jump from that first rail... it was just the player with his console in the Video that made those choices.
At first this looked retarded, now it looks fucking awesome.
This is... holy shit oh god want.
What was that? That can't be gameplay. Unless he memorized everything he had to do.
What was that? That can't be gameplay. Unless he memorized everything he had to do.
Ofcourse he did, hence the "scripted" part
I like how they're racist, just the way people in 1912 should be.
I like how they're racist, just the way people in 1912 should be.
They're not racist, the "foreigners" are people who aren't from Columbia. It's not that they don't like other races, it's that they don't want anyone else coming to Columbia, ever.

The mural of offensive ethnic caricatures at the beginning of the clip.
"For Faith, For Race, For Fatherland." The mural of offensive ethnic caricatures at the beginning of the clip.
Whoops, I always skipped that part because I wanted it to get straight to the gameplay.
Legitimate themes always turn me on.
I love the look of this game. I just really want to get my hands on it myself.
Is it just me or does it look like the guns don't really.. Impact on the enemies? I mean, it probably kills them, but it doesn't feel like it. They don't stumble and grunt, there's no big splatter or big wounds or anything. You'd think that if you got shot with a blunderbuss(I'm assuming it was a blunderbuss) Your chest would be torn to shreds. Eh, it looks pretty awesome aside from that.
They still have 2 years to make the game, I don't think they made the blood decals yet.
It seems like they're going to be doing alot more things with the plazmid ability's, will be interesting to see how this turns out.
It looks good I guess, I feel as if I'm the only person who thinks this will be another thing where the trailer looks awesome but the game doesn't live up the hype.
It looks good I guess, I feel as if I'm the only person who thinks this will be another thing where the trailer looks awesome but the game doesn't live up the hype.
Nah that's where my money is at too, trailers never really "show" the game. Just select parts of it engineered to look as immersive and dramatic as possible. The Bioshock 1 trailer (the Big Daddy-fight scene) was definitely not an accurate representation of the game experience. Though we all know the game isn't really gonna be like this, we're probably gonna see something non-scripted similar environments unless they scrap the entire thing.
I'm only gonna use Telekinesis :smug:
