I watched the first episode and thought it was alright. It's better than the worst of Voyager, but it's worse than any good Star Trek.
Hopefully it'll be like TNG or DS9 where the second series really picks up. And hopefully they get some new stands for their cameras, poor things were all sideways and jittery.
new STD intro seq. fits better also for Orville than STD itself ;)
