When they do anything "pervey" in FlCl it's actually part of the story, it's supposed to be awkward and sexual, not just obligatory panty shots.
Theres little to no perversion in this anime, and where there is, it generally appears in the middle of the season. But it solely keeps its interest with scenes like this.

Still brings down the entire show. Lets take NGE for an example. Awesome all around, but every "character development" sequence was either a 14 year old girl being a stupid whore, or one female or another being naked in front of/around the main character.
I watched NGE for the GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS and shit, I couldn't care less about character development, especially when its so shallow that it uses sex appeal every other second (14 year old sex appeal, no less).

I powered through Brotherhood a few weeks ago (had to watch the last few in Japanese with subs) and it was pretty good but not amazing. Then again I never really watched the previous series (this one follows the manga, the first one only did for the first half). I felt like Brotherhood was missing something. I think because of the first series was made at thw wrong time, so with the new one they rushed over the parts covered in that. So by the end of Brotherhood you've lost sight of the brothers' goal and the ending to me really wasn't that emotional or anything.
Also the ending [sp]was kind of odd with that General becoming Fuhrer because he didn't help in the fucking battle even though he said he would, what a dick. They even joke about him plotting to be Fuhrer when Bradley's train is blown up.[/sp]

NGE is a fucking shitty show, not because of the tsundere mega shit.
But because of an angsty can't do anything but still manages to be useful dipshit and constant reptition of "you're not alone" "people care about you" "believe in yourself" "even though you feel unloved there are many people that loves you". They twist and turn on the same sentence or just repeat the same one over and over again to.
Somehow he manages to control a cyborg machine and beat aliens through sheer willpower and screaming loudly. Then some friends [sp]die[/sp] here and there and he goes angsty faggot again and we get a new overdoze of sentences about the importance of love showed into our heads.
Not to forget. NOTHING. EVER. ACTUALLY. HAPPENS. The show is boring as fuck, episode 19 was like "FUCK YEAH! SHIT WILL NOW HAPPEN AND IT WILL BE GREAT!" then it just forgot all about what happened in that episode in episode 20 and kept on being FUCKING BORING.
Thankfully they ran out of budget on the two last episodes causing great black and white animation and a stupid nonsensical ending.
Oh yeah, and things in the show were named after stuff in the bible and such just "because it sounds deep". FUCKING GREAT! People go on speculating in all the symbolism and meanings behind NGE because they got nothing better to do. And what are they speculating on? THIN AIR.
