I'm not advocating anything you're the one coming up with these wild hypothesis but yes the suffragettes did use bombs to get into news papers. feel free to strawman more though its cute
What the hell are you talking about? You are the one who made the argument "all attention is good attention". Then I asked you if it's still good attention if they'd use bombs. To which you answered with irrelevant things. But I like how you see yourself not making any sense as me making strawmen, it's cute.
"We are not destroying Orchid Houses, breaking windows, cutting telegraph wires, injuring golf greens, in order to win the approval of the people who were attacked. If the general public were pleased with what we are doing, that would be a proof that our warfare is ineffective. We don't intend that you should be pleased." - Suffragettes
So you want people to think that feminists are insane and stupid people? That way you won´t get the support to reach your goals.
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum. (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - MaxOfS2D))
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum.
Why do you have to defend everything that is about females? Even if it is really damaging the cause? Just because they get attention doesn´t mean it is good attention.
She has flat chest, just like 5 year old boys. No wonder the priests jumped at her.
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum.
I take offense to that last one
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum.
Talking about a group doing a stupid thing does not indicate that group's success. That's like saying crazy cults who get their members to commit suicide are successful because they get on the news.
Her pants fall down towards the middle of the video
God that chick is such a fucking cunt
How does one certain niche of people represent an entire movement?
Because they're the loudest and cause the biggest impacts. Like it or not, feminists are going to be associated with that bitch for quite a while, so get used to it.
lo and behold a day later this fucking thread is still front page because it has anything remotely to do with feminism I FUCKING KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN although it isn't a shitflinging fest like it normally is must be the christmas spirit
Because they're the loudest and cause the biggest impacts. Like it or not, feminists are going to be associated with that bitch for quite a while, so get used to it.
"lol loud minorities don't grab the populaces attention what are you crazy?"
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum.
and you're here too...?
"what is FEMEN ever going to accomplish?!!?" cries the Facepuncher, as he posts in a thread about FEMEN, participating in a debate about feminism, on an obscure video games forum.
By that Logic, the Tea Party should be swimming in power and have complete control of the republicans.
Didn´t see anything in the local news about this incident. My grandfather worked there btw.
Because they're the loudest and cause the biggest impacts. Saying that "we should deal with it" just kinda helps their rude, self-serving atitude.
I'm not advocating anything you're the one coming up with these wild hypothesis but yes the suffragettes did use bombs to get into news papers. feel free to strawman more though its cute
you really aren't very good at this
How does one certain niche of people represent an entire movement?
Because the movement doesn't even try to separate itself from the nutters.
Because the movement doesn't even try to separate itself from the nutters.
mostly because "the movement" isn't some organization you sign up for. there's no feminism overlords that are trying to make some decree separating themselves from FEMEN. you've probably learned about this shit in middle/high school. do you support equal rights between genders? you're a feminist. there, you didn't have to join a club, you didn't have to sign something with your blood, and you didn't even have to buy a fucking tshirt. there's other sub-groups that identify as feminists, but they do not represent the entirety of the feminist movement regardless of whether you agree with them or not. i'm on the fence when it comes to FEMEN, because they're going out and making huge headlines on the news but they're also kind of violent. i don't blame them, though.

Heck, the few times when they tried to fight back she didn't let them and kept screaming. Just like a reasonable person, right?.
I still don't see why even a little damage control isn't called for when sub-groups like these take a steaming shit on everyone's impression of your Movement.

I did say that she was acting like she was under pressure.

Feminism has a set of assumptions which exclude people who disagree with them while also wanting the same end goal. Second, the movement may not be one organisation, but when no feminists come out to call them on their bullshit and often implicitly agree with them it isn't unreasonable for regular people to assume that that is what feminism is.

That's not the point of it, it's the peoples fault that it comes down to misinterpretation and ends that way but it's not the purpose of the movement.
You called the crowd unreasonable for nothing, don't play dumb.
Trying to create strawmans out of one specific example is pretty damn exhausting and old, especially if you're gonna try to debate with someone who clings to them.

I meant there are people who do not agree with the ideas of implicitly oppressing women just because you're a man. Or don't consider the generally accepted solutions proposed by feminism to be the right ones. It is possible to acknowledge inequality and wish to change it without being part of a larger movement, or agreeing with it.
That doesn't change the fact he corrected what you said.
Corrected what? I'm actually lost at what you're saying.
First, wanting equal rights between genders does not make you a feminist. Feminism has a set of assumptions which exclude people who disagree with them while also wanting the same end goal.
No it doesn't. Here's the definition of feminism from the oxford dictionary: "the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes." And here it is from Wikipedia: "Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women.[1][2] This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.[3]"
Second, the movement may not be one organisation, but when no feminists come out to call them on their bullshit and often implicitly agree with them it isn't unreasonable for regular people to assume that that is what feminism is.
Lots of feminists don't agree with everything FEMEN does, there are even some stating exactly that in this very thread. Hell I consider myself a feminist, and I certainly don't approve of everything FEMEN does. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline]
Not really. Is this something you're making up to have an argument, or can you actually show that "feminism" as a whole has a generally accepted solution to inequality between sexes? Also feminism isn't some large movement you can be a part or not a part of, feminism in itself only means the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of equality between sexes, and if anyone thinks it means anything else then they are misinterpreting, intentionally or not, what feminism is.
