You can also come to the same conclusion thanks to the information presented directly to the left of the video
Meaning...?
What a load of toxic bullshit. Granted, not all of the facts are downright made up, but some of those numbers are ever so slightly adjusted to better fit the point they're trying to make. It just contains enough truth so you can get a debate started on the basis of 'she seems to have a point I think' or 'yeah, i've heard that before somewhere'. Also, most of the conclusions drawn in the video are just completely bananas, taking semi-true statistics and linking them in completely unrelated ways. Did she seriously say that if it wasn't for clothing donations, factories and the related infrastructure would just pop out of the fucking ground while in many places just setting up a school is considered an achievement? This is not too many steps away from tinfoil chemtrail crazy, only that it draws its conclusions from biased observations in global economy and politics rather than staring at the sky in your backyard. What is it with all those biased political or economy themed threads on facepunch lately? It's not like I'm against discussion of important, political topics but most of them seem to be on the political right side which is kind of one-sided. I've never thought of facepunch as a 'political' forum, where's all this stuff coming from lately?
This is one of the dumbest, most manipulative videos I've seen this year. [editline]21st February 2016[/editline]
Shit video or not, there's a lot of truth to the horrendous waste and corruption that is foreign aid (see: unicef/invisible children/etc). There are organizations that do a good job though, would have been nice to mention those. Truth typically lies somewhere between the extreme arguments on both side, and this is definitely an extreme argument
That doesn't mean that donations are bad though.

Many know how to make clothing so yeah, if a market exists it will be filled by people wanting to work. Africans don't need clothing or shoes, they've got plenty and have the capacity to make their own. The problem is shitty government caused by a myriad of factors, shitty government that struggles to build schools and proper roads, etc.
That doesn't mean that donations are bad though.
Yeah and I did say in my post that there are organizations that do a good job, and the problem with the video is that it only highlights the ones that are just corrupt wastes of money lining the pockets of cartoonishly evil business men :v:
Africans aren't as stupid as you may think. Many know how to make clothing so yeah, if a market exists it will be filled by people wanting to work. They shouldn't be wasting manpower on tasks that have been taken over by the powers of mass production.
Jesus, what a shit channel. What the fuck is this video supposed to be? Here's literally the only source for it, too! http://chersonandmolschky.com/2015/08/21/same-sex-relations-facts-people/ It's bad. It's really bad. There's a mountain of stupid beyond that link, and holy fucking damn, is it nigh impossible to slog through. There's shit about "the gay agenda," nonsensically bizarre statements, like the average gay man somehow having literally hundreds of sexual partners, often at once in equally bizarre orgies, apparently in a bathroom or whatever. It, in itself, is sourced by straight garbage sources - much like The Family Institute, or "The Gay Report," which, uh... yeah. The name themselves should be fair indicators of their quality. Now, of course, a lack of quality in citations is similar to this video - the UNICEF part is almost entirely made up, relying on bullshit sources like this, or this. Both are unbelievably dumb on their own - the second source is literally all about how vaccines are supposed to kill you, and the first talks about everything from bad about modern reproductive sciences and procedures, from stem cell research to contraception and even organ donation. So, we've got a channel that not only supports and listens to crazy shit on a regular basis, but uses it as talking points in their videos. Christ, the quality! Good job, folks.
Attack the message not the messenger
Attack the message not the messenger
"Don't criticize the guy for making retarded claims with no sources" lol no

I never implied that Africans are stupid, or at least I didn't intend to. I just wanted to point out that a self sustainable, profitable and future-proof Industry needs infrastructure on a scale that just isn't possible in most places.
Just take a look at this channel for a second: There are some valid points in the video but seriously this youtube channel just seems like a parody.
Their means of production would probably be inefficient and raise the prices of clothes too. They shouldn't be wasting manpower on tasks that have been taken over by the powers of mass production.
They have to develop industry and have an employed tax base.
Attack the message not the messenger

"Don't criticize the guy for making retarded claims with no sources" lol no
Well, I think it's important that a discussion (if there's going to be a discussion) of a video should consider the merit of the actual video and critique it as a self-contained presentation. By discussing the viewpoints of people whom you nominally disagree with, you can learn how they think and educate yourself on the arguments they make. The individual's behavior outside of the specific video is tangential information, at best it provides a perspective of the individual, at worst it leers dangerously close to an ad hominem (attacking the person and not the argument). The main criticism should be of the video itself, akin to what FlashMarsh did in his post earlier in the thread. [editline]23rd February 2016[/editline]
What is it with all those biased political or economy themed threads on facepunch lately? I've never thought of facepunch as a 'political' forum, where's all this stuff coming from lately?
Controversial content is more interesting and provides more useful and engaging commentary and discussion than content that is 'preaching to the choir', so to speak. Facepunch is a predominately left-wing forum (aside from a few specific issues like gun control, but let's not get into that) so content like this stops the forum from becoming an echo chamber. People also respond to this kind of content (by posting and keeping threads active), which creates a demand for similar content where other types of content would be otherwise buried. People don't want to discuss non-controversial left-wing issues because most of the forum agrees with it (except, again, Gun Control and stuff). Finally, the shift in political discourse may reflect the same shift in political discourse taking place in the wider world. At the moment, refugee crisis's as well as wars and the concurrent issues of political correctness in education have lead to a gradual shift to the right side of the political spectrum. The content produced in this wider discourse manufactures the pool of content available for discussion in this forum.
