How mainstream/popular is CSGO still? I feel like in terms of how often I hear it referenced, it pretty much went stealth mode after Overwatch came out (other than the gloves incident/thing). Also, I'm kind of hoping that valve's slowness with getting VAC up to speed has to do with either wanting to finally ship CSGO's poor ass off to Source 2 or something else related to Source 2 development and not because they were busy working on other projects until now.
I don't understand how you can say this just after a major with one million people watching the final, and it has hundreds of thousands of people playing all the time. It is certainly still relevant in a big way, even with Valve neglecting to bring out big updates. And it's likely to stay that away because of it's highly competitive nature.
Overwatch's competitive scene is completely dead in the water, and I don't see as much buzz post launch. Can't say anything about active players though, it could just have a big player base without it. It's a blizzard game so it's guaranteed to sell.
