Anyone else noticed the BBC becoming pro Tory since they were fucking about with the charter? The election coverage is pretty biased, I've got to say

I hate to admit it but yes
I used to be really proud of the BBC, recently though I've grown to hold it with more and more disdain
Does anyone talk about politics at work?
I feel like it's the best way to fall out with people, jesus christ. Like this girl really wants to debate with me but I know for a fact we will disagree and it's just pointless.

I do a bit, it can fall into a trap.
Theres a guy at my work who is pro-brexit, denies global warming (or at least first denies entirely, then says it exists not human caused, then says it is human caused but doesn't cause warming, then says its real, human caused and beneficial, all in 1 convo). We chatted about brexit but it was sort like like a bit of banter we talk quite well and it doesn't get personal or angered so its ite.
Another guy has a big thing against SJWs and socialism but we discuss stuff like the philosophy underlying it, games or interesting history stuff.
Don't let it get personal and if you hit a patch you can't agree on find something in common to discuss for a bit. Also if you disagree with someone over something like immigration try to assume they're not bad people, if they're irrational then be patient with them and not directly challenge it best thing is to let them find flaws in their own logic. IMO more fun to discuss philosophy, history and stuff like AI; sod getting into arguments at work.
Before I came to uni I used to work for a couple and I'd discuss politics a lot with one of them. He was a euroskeptic climate change denier who believed many conspiracies, but he was totally cool with me disagreeing with him and discussing politics. We just were respectful to each other's views. It was really quite nice tbh.

V for Vendetta is more UK-centric and more contemporary.

read the article, not just the headline. independent is pushing pro labour shit so hard that they're just straight up lying in their headlines. especially the short headline you see on facebook posts. i'm not one for internet censorship but when you read into it they clearly have good intentions and let's be real any overly intrusive shit simply won't pass through parliament. don't forget that there's still 229 labour MPs that get their say on this stuff

yesterdays tory bashing bullshit was branding may the "lunch snatcher" because the manifesto outlines plans to cut universal lunchtime meals for infants and replace them with free breakfasts for every pupil up to age 11. and "children from poorer families would continue to get free hot lunches – as well as free breakfasts – throughout their education."
on top of that, breakfast is cheaper and can be delivered at a tenth of the cost saving £60 million that will go back in to the school system. the kids also get two meals. it's literally win win
but nah she's basically thatcher cause the independent said so lol
they clearly have good intentions
I'm sorry but I don't think you can say that about the Tories right now.

We do at work, but everyone is fairly young, left leaning or from the EU. Everyone I work with is voting labour

I'm not familiar with V for Vendetta, but 1984 is based in London.

Ahh, right. Well, V for Vendetta is more contemporary still.
Enjoyed both, would definitely recommend 1984 first tho, great great book

I make it a point to not talk about specific politics with most people. Listening to other people arguing about it makes me feel like its similar to smashing your head against a brick wall most of the time because the vast majority of people (Including myself) are extremely uninformed, don't really actually know anything about how the government works and seem to get most of their information from social media, biased news sources and propaganda, and any form of 'debate' tends to just be people parroting what they have read at each other until one person can't instantly debunk a statistic the other pulled out of their ass.
I have one or two friends I do talk to politics about and usually it is just pondering random questions rather than acting like we know whats best for the country.

The two responses which annoy me most to anything political are
Well who you elect doesn't matter anyway why bother thinking about it
and
I don't like any of the parties so I'm just not going to vote
If you don't want to vote for someone then literally draw a penis on your ballot paper and that's fine, just actually submit a vote. Oh third goes to

I hate how autistic the V for Vendetta Guy Fawkes mask has become because of spastics posing with it paired with a fedora and a katana saying shit like "you may not have come to the prom with me, but I shall decapitate those whomst've disrespect mine lady"
the actual graphic novel is fucking great

Because I am a busy (lazy) woman, I have only seen the film (but am aware of some of the differences between the adaptation and the original). What I do find funny is in the film [sp]after that line, we see him taking off bullet-proof armour[/sp].

It was a statement that V was just an idea. Not literal of course.

I know, but it's a funny bit to me.
Bit of a political scandal at my uni after a member of the union conservative society suggested that if a nurse couldn't manage to not go to food banks on their salary they were probably also a danger to patients. Needless to say there was quite a lot of backlash against this.

Well, there was one person a danger to patients there but it wasn't the nurse.

it is funny how pro-labour the 'independent' is getting, but even still that doesn't equate to the amount of papers and outlets against corbyn

Aside from the Independent, The Guardian and the Mirror I don't think any other paper is currently supportive of Labour
my news feed on fb would have you believe the independent is the only news outlet anyone reads and that absolutely everyone and anyone is voting labour
plus about 5 shares a day of the registertovote.gov website to remind ppl to vote lmao
Think it was the Mail proudly declaring conservatives "Blue Labour" the other day.
Bit of a "what?" moment.

Literally!
I see the same Canary and Independent articles over and over again - and it is always the same people sharing them.
I think most people who are voting lib dem are only voting to get the tories out

Do you have anything against this though? Maybe people who don't check Facebook anywhere near enough as you could do with the coddling into registering.
