my mother once drunk a half bottle of rum that i had in my room when she cleaned it unexpectedly when i was away for a weekend. maximum cheeky.
I hate this type of shit. My mum recently did similar shit, except she did it right in front a of my face without asking. It wasn't that she had some of my booze (she only had a bit), it's that 10seconds previously she asked if I could make her a cocktail, and I said sure give me 5minutew.. instead she just goes and grabs the stuff to start making it herself... I just find it massively hypocritical (if I touched her booze she would flip shit), but she plays it off as "oh well we pay for your food" and "don't be so selfish". Like, I literally just said give me a minute and instead you're acting like a child, demanding it now. We had a massive argument, to which she refuses to apologize properly, even after I point out that she does the exact same thing to me when she's watching bloody coronation Street/emmerdale/EastEnders/any other shit, but instead when I'm wanting to talk about important things.... I love my mum but I cannot wait to move out and cut her out my life more...
Amazon
last year we ordered two fans from amazon in late may on prime, one of them got cancelled and resent for july and the other got delivered to the house next door and they didnt tell us for 4 weeks :[ nearly god damn melted
Only really annoying thing I can think of my mum doing is when she does work around the house that no one tells her to do, when we are present in the house, and she complains later that she has to do everything. And every-single-time we tell her 'just ask us to do it' she says "Well you'll just not do it if I ask you". I think she knows how dumb that statement has gotten so she has laid off using it and just asks us now.
I used to keep my room tidy so my mum wouldn't go poking about. Which is just as well as I often had stuff I wouldn't want her to find. I remember when my mates mum found and flushed his stash of ket back when he used to sell it. Now i've moved out it's my gf who keeps moving stuff about. You must have just got unlucky ha. Sat here at work with my 6 inch USB fan. Works a charm.
I had the fortune of never really arguing with either of my (divorced) parents because they were super laid back and encouraged me to be super independent from a very young age and they always pretty much trusted that I was smart enough to take care of myself 99% of the time. What does cause friction though when you are like 13 and your new stepmum has a bitchfit over the tiniest things and tries to change things that were fine with your real parents all along. Also on an unrelated note my gf's sister's (now ex) boyfriend sold her parents his nice Megane nearly 2 years ago for a heavily discounted price (£1500) because hes rubbish with money, had another car and wanted rid of it. Find out the other day that what he didn't tell us/them is that the car still had outstanding finance on it, and we get a letter through the door today from a garage saying that he had no right to sell it and they want the finance either paid off or they will repo the car. When his ass was rung up on it he said something about how he thought it would balance out since he could use the money he sold it for to pay finance off but the car's value must have decreased, but as far as I'm aware the amount the company wants is around £2000, more than he sold it for in the first place so I'm not really sure I believe him, especially considering he sells cars for a living so he should understand how this all works quite indepth. He's cooperating but he has literally no money because he's terrible with it and is in loads of debt from blowing all his money on affluent things like watches, phones, etc and signing loads of finance contracts for stuff. He wants to see if he can have them agree to let him pay it off over time, but if they say no how screwed are we? Found a lot of conflicting information online but they do not want nor can really afford to shell out £2000+ for a car they bought 2 years ago in good faith, they didn't have HPI checks carried out on the car because they knew him and nobody (Not even my gf's sister) knew that he didn't fully own it.
My mum always comes into my room and turns my lights and shit off (they're LED so super low consumption) I've resorted to putting laminated 'do not touch' notes on all of my lightswitches
the chances are because you knew him they won't accept good faith as an excuse and will probs repo the car. also if he sells cars he definitely understands how finance works and it looks like he just wanted to rip you off.
every now and again I catch my dad snooping about in my room, he nonchalantly walks out as though he's not done anything wrong I don't know what they're looking for? I have nothing to hide... the worst thing is probably a few wrappers from things I've been told not to eat, but a man with 2AM hunger is not a reasonable man

He sold it to his GF's parents while they were going out and they only broke up a month or two ago (A year after the car was sold), so there was no way he would have gotten away with it. That and selling a car with finance still on it without telling the buyer is criminal (Or is it even allowed to sell a car with finance on it in general without it being paid off since the car technically doesn't belong to you?) He's only like 21 or something and was 19 at the time, works for a Mercedes dealership. I think he's just grossly incompetent and one of those people that tries to ignore all of their problems/debts/urgent business and hope it all goes away which is why he is in so much money trouble to begin with. Also how does the process of repossessing the car work if it came to that, do they just walk onto your drive one day and use some kinda universal key or something to break into the car and drive away with any of your stuff in it or what? Or do they come to your door and threaten court etc if you don't hand the keys over. Idk some parents are just nosey as hell and don't respect boundaries, all you can really do is confront them about it, ask why they are going through your private stuff and ask them not to. Problem with living at home is parents can always just pull the 'our house our rules' crap even if they are being completely unreasonable.

Tried chow mein, it was ok but I think my body is rejecting it because it's just too new to me. I should have started with just plain ol' noodles but I had no idea what chow mein even was except tha it was noodles and maybe other stuff. Also while the pplace had nice customer service they didn't give me chopsticks for the aunthentically homogenised watered-down Asian experience. Also it tastes vaguely familiar...
Got the weekend off work, no idea what to do for that time
My mum always comes into my room and turns my lights and shit off (they're LED so super low consumption) I've resorted to putting laminated 'do not touch' notes on all of my lightswitches
im pretty sure that LEDs consume more power turning off/on than they do when they're on all the time. i know my old coworker, who used to be an electrician, used to screech at people for turning off the LEDs for "power usage" concerns. [editline]24th June 2017[/editline] he was the kind of person who could screech at you but still be endearing/funny at the same time and not just a bully. a rare breed. also literally tiny.
Fellow members of the British empire, I could use some advice regarding job seeking in the UK. I'm a dual Aussie, UK citizen so visas are no issue for me. I just need to know what the best job seeking website is for IT work. Looking at moving over if I can't get this visa for the USA as my partner's parents pulled their sponsorship and Australia isn't an option for her.
This is coming from someone doing the opposite and taking advantage of German Citizenship, but IT jobs in Central Scotland and Glasgow are currently very popular, a lot of my friends have gone into that line of work. Most likely other parts of the UK but I don't live there so I can't comment.

Chances are that it could be sorted in small claims court for £25
Pop down to your local solicitor's office, most of them will do a free 30 minute consultation. Chances are that it could be sorted in small claims court for £25
Apparently they went with him to citizens advice today and basically made him get an appointment with a debt management place, they also told him that the car company should hold off their proceedings for a month if they are told he intends to pay it but needs debt management help. He's cooperating and wants to sort it, its just whether or not the company that owns the car is willing to let him pay in installments.

Little bit worried with what's going to happen with brexit but gotta put that aside if I want to be with my partner. Probably going to start applying for jobs this week and hopefully get an offer.

One thing I will say is that most UK housing is very small and can be very expensive when compared to Europe, I'm not sure how that compares to Australia.
What sort of IT are you looking for?
Interesting, I was purely talking about UK suburbs as that's all I really know about but I do know Australian big city housing is outrageous with the state of the current market.
Yeah fair enough. Suburb pricing can be crazy too (Australia is weird, city = entire metro area inc suburbs), even living in the shittiest of shit suburb 60 miles from the CBD you can't really expect to buy a house for less than $500,000 (bout 300,000) AU or rent for less than $350 (210 a week.) Also, typing out prices for people in the UK really makes me wish I had a pound symbol key on my keyboard..

can someone explain the appeal behind RuPaul's drag race because I really, really don't get it, and virtually everybody I know seems to be really emotionally attached to it
I think it has something to do with slaying queens, very unpatriotic
I don't know why I couldn't finish that chow mein...
I don't know why I couldn't finish that chow mein...
I think it's pretty much an unwritten rule that whenever you order Chinese or Indian takeaway you'll have food left over. Which can be both a good and bad thing.
