Lads, trying to get from Newcastle to Birmingham without breaking the bank. I fuckin hate the coach but it seems the only way right now, since trains are £52 a ticket. Any advice?
Book in advance, up to 12 weeks 13th September outward, 0835hrs train for £32.90 21st September return, 1003hrs train from £32.90 Total £65.80 before any railcard discounts £43.40 with a young person's railcard

Any advice?
Coach will be the cheapest way - National Express are stupidly cheap compared to getting the train but you've got to sit on a coach for x hours. One way to get reasonable train fares would be to book fares in advance like Hezzy said; but I would recommend looking into split ticketing if you're desperate. It's a faff figuring out the routes & having to carry around all the tickets but it can work out considerably cheaper.
I have done the Newcastle > Birmingham route a few times on both Megabus and National Express in the past, its not particularly pleasant but its not the worst thing in the world either, iirc its like 5-6 hours whereas the train is 4-5. You can get return trips for like £20ish on Megabus or £30ish on National Express. Main downside is that the buses (Especially the cheaper ones) can leave/arrive at pretty awkward times so if you are needing to make your own way after getting off you might struggle. I tried Megabus in 2011 to go from Newcastle to South Wales, I can safely say 13 hours on one of those buses is not something you want to do :v:. The same route has gone up 40% in price for trains for me though in the last few years which sucks (£70 > £105, with a railcard) I feel like there's a bit of a technique to dealing with travelling long journeys that comes with experience, after many years of regular grueling journeys all over the country and back it doesnt even bother me that much anymore, I just switch off and next thing I know the 8 hours flies by.
Emergency pyschriatric appointments are a thing so maybe
yeah that's what ended up happening

I know this doesn't help you I'm sorry You could be in a relationship with a member of rail staff and get the same thing though
You could be in a relationship with a member of rail staff and get the same thing though
Ben is basically hitting on you

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse, I got a letter from Santander saying your local branch is going to close. My local branch being a 1 minute walk down the road. Fuck sake santander.
They're shit anyway.

I found out when I went to cash a cheque and it'd been turned into a Subway. [editline]6th July 2017[/editline] To this day I'm still not sure what to put down as my banks address when it's needed [editline]6th July 2017[/editline] Also I'm in Turkey right now, it's disgustingly hot.
Become a member of rail staff.
Lad get me some cheeky cheap train tickets every now and again and you can use my friends and family discount on EE
Lad get me some cheeky cheap train tickets every now and again and you can use my friends and family discount on EE
I'd love to but you have to have the card with the tickets for it to be valid :(
For the first time in about 10 years I let my face fuzz grow outwards more than just 5 o clock shadow. And to it appears I have a ginger beard while I have dark brown hair. I thought I dodged the bullet on the ginger gene in the family but i guess not. Not entirely sure how I feel about it.
Lad get me some cheeky cheap train tickets every now and again and you can use my friends and family discount on EE
Oh damn another EE guy. Hello fellow colleague.
Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse, I got a letter from Santander saying your local branch is going to close. My local branch being a 1 minute walk down the road. Fuck sake santander.
who actually goes into banks anymore
who actually goes into banks anymore
I still do ;( Every time I go into santander, the cashier asks 'do you do online banking?' and everytime I say no because there is a santander right down my road. I got offput from online banking thanks to Natwest because they used to give you a mini card reader which generates a code - you login with your cryptic password with uppercase, lowercase, number, 2 different symbols and your generated code and if you are inactive for more than 5 minutes you're timed out. I thought fuck that, I'm going down to the bank.
I used to be that guy who went into the branch to deposit a £5 note because he didn't want to carry it
So I went to London the wrong day for an appointment. So I ended up going to Forbidden Panet and buying a bunch of Brian Froud artbooks (and Pathfinder books). They were heavy and I was stuck in London until half 7 because I got an offpeak ticket. I have lost some feeling in the tip of my left ring finger due to carrying heavy-arse bags o' hardbacks but now I own high-quality art of David Bowie's package. Also saw two Asian lasses walking together with matching nice hats.
Oh damn another EE guy. Hello fellow colleague.
Oi oi lad, them sick Datafest deals aye? (For real though, new starter and I couldn't even get my fucking Compass login. What a laugh)
who actually goes into banks anymore
A metro bank opened recently in my area and those places are flashy as fuck, makes all the other bank branches that haven't shut yet look like total shit. But I'm pretty sure banks are for old people only, my local santander has like 3 staff in it max.
who actually goes into banks anymore
me, almost every week
me, almost every week
you're doing it wrong
I went into the bank the day before yesterday to put a cheque in
you're doing it wrong
you're right, i should keep hundreds of pounds in cash in my flat every month [editline]8th July 2017[/editline] why did i not think of this before
What do you do to have hundreds in cash every month :v:
What do you do to have hundreds in cash every month :v:
Prostitution. Jesus, don't judge the man for his choices.
