They got my tax code wrong, just need to fill in a form and it should be okay
I just let them reimburse me after the end of the tax year, this year it was a £820 rebate lmao
Recently we've been upgrading the machines in our office to nice i5 things, with Windows 10. But for the last few weeks all of our bandwidth has been used up by connections to Microsoft. It was only today that anyone ventured into the windows store settings to discover that the store had continuously trying to update stuff and failing on every machine. No one had bothered checking the windows stores because no one had bothered to use it before. Windows 10 is weird with updates, it sometimes seems to cripple the machine, especially if it hasn't been used in a few months. And does alot of stuff you didn't ask it to do. It feels like they tried to go in a different direction but rather than be brave and starting properly afresh they just built it onto of creaky old windows we know and love [editline]28th November 2016[/editline] It's good for home use but it's annoying having an office full of them

Definitely check it, all the machines had stuff stuck at 0.1kb downloaded or with errors Its not as bad as the windows 7 & 8 eternal update issue where windows update would fully use the CPU and Ram and we'd have to periodically force stop wuasrv
Mate, remember when we were going to go for lunch/a drink? RIP
ive been stuck in trying to play multiplayer games without a decent connection :v: you free at all today? i've been bored fucking shitless this weekend
ive been stuck in trying to play multiplayer games without a decent connection :v: you free at all today? i've been bored fucking shitless this weekend
The short answer is no, the longer answer involves quite a lot of swearing and work. Tbh it might have to be next weekend because I'm currently buried in 3 nightmarish lab preps, a lab report and my infinite lectures.
Can't you use WSUS and just disable the Store with GPO?
We don't have a any over arching admin system or anything. All our PCs just have a local windows admin user that connect to a NAS. There's only 12 people working in the building.
Isn't it still possible to disable the Store through Local Policy without needing a domain? [editline]28th November 2016[/editline] Thinking about it, you can set Windows 10 up so that the client PC's basically act as WSUS servers anyway, something about sending updates to PC's on the local network

United Kingdom chat thread V3: We still miss our Windows Servers
I dunno how much time I wasted at work today on a single bug. But god I feel like a twat for not spotting it faster. Someone is checking something in our code in different ways, but expects the same results. I easily lost a few hours to this because documentation is for the weak apparently? Oh well. Stopped me sleeping at my desk I suppose.
I walked in a greggs after coming home from my gf's and the display above the counter was in "restore windows" mode. My lord just turn it off :speechless:.
local admin on every machine... potential nightmare right there, may as well get some infrastructure setup to avoid any future issues
Probably. But it worked for em before I started and has mostly worked since [editline]29th November 2016[/editline] I just have to make sure people do work

I once saw a bus stop in Bedford showing the Windows XP Professional login screen
Crosspost from the adulthood thread: Lads, i'm stuck in a rut. Me:20,"fulltime" job, work for an airline at the airport, okay pay, but not even close enough to move out of parents house. I'm hard working, interview well, take to anything very quickly, never planned on working in the airline industry. Basically no progression path at current job, where do i go now? I have management experience, love writing (no portfolio of work though), love making videos (youtube) love interacting with people, love doing voice acting and voice over(small portfolio #read 1 job), entrepreneurial mindset. I just have no idea what to do next, what can I do?

Your job sounds steady enough so think of it as a solid base to sit on for a while and develop your portfolios of the stuff you actually like doing in the meantime. Pretty sure the age that the average Brit moves out of their parents house is steadily increasing so at 20 years old I wouldn't worry too much about not having a place of your own.
Why are the Tories so interested in my porn habits?
Why are the Tories so interested in my porn habits?
because you're a fucking degenerate

And many of those who have moved out, are moving back because they can't afford it anymore. I myself am in the latter category now, and it's just not worth thinking about it, previous generations had different kinds of shit to deal with, but the lack of housing and the price hike / renting because of it was not one. So honestly put the "I have to move out of home" thoughts to one side, if it happens it happens if it don't well you still got 10 odd years (likely 15 thanks to the fucking Tories).

I'm working barely over minimum wage for just shy of full time hours and I'm meeting rent and bills comfortably every month with a bit of savings and spending cash all while losing 80 something quid to pension and a shares plan.
Anyone here familiar with British law? I could use a bit of advice
