Many people are goning to be 30 or there abouts before they can reasonably afford to move out. And many of those who have moved out, are moving back because they can't afford it anymore.
I myself am in the latter category now, and it's just not worth thinking about it, previous generations had different kinds of shit to deal with, but the lack of housing and the price hike / renting because of it was not one. So honestly put the "I have to move out of home" thoughts to one side, if it happens it happens if it don't well you still got 10 odd years (likely 15 thanks to the fucking Tories).
i earn 20k or there about self employed, 4-5 days a week work and i have a flatshare in edinburgh city centre, a car and a little bit left over each month for the savings account.

i'm also 20 years old

if you're fit and able to do so, work can be found. it involved a lot of attitude changing and getting off my lazy arse to actually do stuff and learn how to talk to clients as well as a lot of capital investment but it becomes worth it in the end

It depends on what you want I suppose, if you want a deposit for a mortgage to actually by a house it'll probably take you a few years once you're on a minimum wage. Once you get over the initial hump of deposit and fees, renting is pretty reasonable for a medium to low earner.

fees are illegal in scotland and now illegal in england and wales so one less thing to worry about
Anyone here familiar with British law? I could use a bit of advice
Criminal or civil?

I'm usually the bastard to put a tree up in my room on November 1st but I don't have the money to afford a new tree to replace my shit one.

Sadly for me, I live(d) in London. Attitude and lack of effort was never the problem.
Got an interview on Monday for the scholarship I wanted (apparently I passed their C test at least a bit).

Yeah and NOT Slade. I fucking hate Slade.
“It’s just like timing your coffee for a lecture. Getting an extra shot is just the same as taking an extra line. I developed something called a ‘study line’. If an extra strong macchiato is a ‘bomb’ then a flat white is a study line. If you time the lines right then you come up ready to get out the door and come down ready to sit and take notes.
I remember being up late on the Tuesday or Monday night typing an essay. I had a cute place-mat to keep the lines, card, baggy, straw and rolled up note on it. I loved it. I was motivated. My study drug helped me to focus and type faster than I would usually. Creatively drawing links and producing diagrams to help me define my points. I was impressed with myself but I was high. I got a first in that essay, though.”

I honestly don't understand how people 'can't afford' to move out. I'm working barely over minimum wage for just shy of full time hours and I'm meeting rent and bills comfortably every month with a bit of savings and spending cash all while losing 80 something quid to pension and a shares plan.
Really depends where you live. In my city a shitty 1 bed flat close enough to work to stop me needing to drive in can easily cost me £500/m before council tax (~£100/m), bills and insurance costs.
I could afford that. And writing it down makes it even more obvious I can (currently in a shared property paying £425/m all inclusive). But at the same time I kinda want to be saving money for actually owning a place. Renting is balls when you can't really do anything to the property.
And getting my mate to actually look at properties so we can split costs is fucking impossible. Step it up cunt.
our tree is up it's fucking time bois
I don't think talking about shooting the PM over the internet is a good idea
I guess you guys are now on Theresa May's naughty list. So you'll be getting a black bag over your head for christmas or something.
Criminal or civil?
At the risk of sounding fucking stupid, I'm not really sure what it'd fall under if I'm honest mate.

Renting is balls, especially if you're trying to save to buy and you know the mortgage repayments would be less than your rent

the tab is an actual joke
75% of their "journalism" is "how to tell when youre a good fresher~" "how to tell what degree you study by how you dress", and the other 25% is usually bullshit that tries to imitate Vice and falls flat on its face

Shoot me a PM if you haven't already got an answer, I can give advice on criminal but it won't be as good as going to a solicitor
I'm not really feeling festive this year. Anyone else feel that way? It just feels more annoying then anything.
Not really, this year has flown by so fast it feels like xmas is earlier than usual.
I lied. Saw a few homeless dudes so I brought them all a Fanta and sweets and shit for the lads who gotta sit in the cold.

time to watch as much porn as possible to fill the brain wank bank, the one place they can never censor.
Well fellas, my interview at Oxford went alright. I felt a little underqualified and was totally surprised they wanted to interview me. Don't know when I'll hear back from them, just want to make it to the weekend now.
Congrats on getting an interview, what subject are you looking at?
Oh, not a subject/course interview, it was a job interview! Sorry, should have made that a little clearer. I was an absolute thicko when it came to the core curriculum subjects. The job post was for workshop technician, and oh my god they've got too much machinery than they know what to do with.

Haha fair enough, that job does sound good! The stuff that the lab techs (and the students!) here in Southampton get to play with is awesome. Best of luck with it.
