2 hour wait in the Minor Injury Unit at my hospital, help what do I do
I used to work at a MIU and I can tell you that the 2 hour wait is probably because of someone with a home-treatable injury like a cut finger or something.
Bonus points if they demand to see a specialist in a country hospital like the one I worked at which rarely had any physicians present in the unit.
Now there's been an emergency and the wait time is longer, aaaaaaah

On the bright side my work PC has reverted back to UK keyboard layout after deciding that it wanted to be American

Don't you just bump the most minor of the injuries down? My hospital is pretty good at shoving GP patients to the in house GP, minors basically cares for itself, and of course majors and resus are, well, majors and resus.
Then again, I just image them, red dot if applicable, and send them back.

After I graduated my employer fucked up my paye one month so HRMC/SLC took that as a sign to start charging me for it. In that first year of work my loan accrued more interest than I actually paid off.

Pistonheads, eBay, gumtree
Today at work I had 4 hours of meetings and all that was decided is that we are going to do what I said in the first place. Fucking meetings man... :suicide:

I recently had a two hour meeting about having a larger meeting in the future. The future meeting didn't happen.
Basically the guy it was with, the part of the company he managed was sold off so now he doesn't really manage anything, so now he's trying to get involved/stick his nose in. I'd really prefer he didn't

Most of what we saw was folk with minor injuries who were referred to either home care or GP but you had folk wandering because, I shit you not, they had nicked themselves with a knife and it was the smallest injury that a plaster would basically be over kill. Not that people walking into hospital s other the most minor of ailments is surprising. One of my favorites was a guy with stretch marks over his lower back who thought it was an allergic reaction.
There were no majors or resus here because we were a cottage hospital so it is a trip to the main hospital by car or blue light.
I don't work there anymore, though. I'm looking into music therapy instead of emergency care but I still do event cover on a voluntary basis.
left uni for good today lads, not the foggiest what I'm going to do now.
just going play some tony hawks underground and hopefully it'll sort itself

Did you drop out?
ye
Any reason why? I dropped out of my old course and took some years out to work and find out what I really wanted to do.

Did you already sign something? Also if you didn't agree to the random lottery thing I would say you aint taking that room since he agreed to have it in the first place, especially since it was the condition for moving there.
What would be more awkward is if you just gambled and agreed to the lottery thing then after you ended up with the short straw made it an issue. Either way I'd let them know its a bit fucked and you arent happy about it otherwise you are just going to spend the entire time living there feeling bitter and if they don't all openly know then they will probably just think everything is fine.
If you didn't sign anything I'd tell them you aren't gonna unless the original agreement is upheld, if you did sign something I'd tell them you really arent very happy about having that room because the only reason you signed anything is because you were told you wouldn't be in that room.

Just wasn't working for me to be honest mate, wasn't passionate enough about my course to put in the effort I should have. plus I didn't get into my first choice, so I went to a uni that was 10 miles from home & didn't really get the change of scenery I wanted

I can get that. I am saving up to study in Canada right now, partly because the standard of training is better and tuition is cheaper and partly because I want to be somewhere that is not the UK

What were you doing?
I was doing a games development degree at a college 4-5 years ago and I quickly realized it was basically a scam...The lecturers had no industry experience, no idea what they were on about and the course content was completely outdated and nothing used was industry standard.
Dropped out and did a few years of an apprenticeship for a big tech company, that seems to be the way forward now. Starting on a £20k salary with decent yearly increases, plenty of training opportunities and lots of perks and they would have paid for me to do a software engineering degree if I wanted to after the apprenticeship was over. Was the best decision I ever made even though I don't work there anymore, gave me tons to put on my CV (Enough that I don't even need to mention that I was an apprentice because I was doing just as much if not more than plenty of colleagues that had been there for 10+ years)
Stuff like BAE Systems, Capgemini, Accenture etc etc, as long as you aren't a moron and can write a bunch of rubbish in an application they don't seem to be that hard to get on to. Since it's apprenticeships you don't even need to be qualified, like I said just the ability to write a load of junk on applications and maybe do a few free online courses on the subject just to show you are extra keen.
Big companies have realized that a lot of young people aren't actually that stupid, and if you hire the right kids you can pay them a salary of £20k and find they will learn very quickly and begin to outperform people who are being paid 2-3x more than them. One reasons I left is because I felt like I was being undervalued after a few years, a few of my friends quit just before me and their few years of experience there landed them jobs in the £35-40k range straight away.
Anyone reckon Scotland will get their independence?
If they do I am moving! Seriously the EU won't take them and if they do, it will just be another Greece, the price of oil is still low and Scotland can't compete. It is very troubling times, Brexit and now this

We're mates, it'll get sorted. I said before the lottery thing that i expected him to take it but it would have been a bad idea to talk about it the because I wasn't in a place for any constructive conversation. I'll try and talk to him tomorrow.

I'm in my final year of uni (spent 2 years in college doing Software Engineering, got an A in an HND and moved into 2nd year Computer Systems at uni (computer science minus the maths basically)) and I know that feeling.
We're told "ah yes, this part of the course is required in industry" and when you get there - they look at you strange and just flat out tell you they'll re-teach you because the stuff in uni is outdated as fuck, or incomplete (worst case scenario: no longer used and you spent a year or 2 being examined on something which is no longer used at all, so you have to learn something completely new from the beginning).
I'm not even sure where to go once I graduate to be honest. I haven't been looking at grad placements as I've been doing my dissertation instead and I'll most likely have to go down to London to get a grad placement in programming (although my girlfriend got her programming grad placement down there so at least I'd be with her if I had to go there (we're both from Edinburgh)).
I'm more worried about not being good enough (I'm friends with much better programmers than I am, but I'd say I was alright at it.... just a bit slow to understand it at times) and having to take a year out because I couldn't get a placement the first time (which means I wouldn't fall in the "grad" category (or so I've been told)) is an even worse feeling when I think about it.

To be honest, after Westminster more-a-less ignored the promises they gave us about extra powers and the obvious stay vote (which seems to have been ignored) - I think so.
We've got oil and green energy we can offload to other places, and if we really needed to - sell water to England during the drought months.
I voted no for the first vote as I believed Scotland didn't have enough to survive on its own, but after the Brexit vote and lack of increased promised powers - even I'm beginning to swing to yes. It's a farce, yes, but independance maybe the lesser of the 2 evils on offer.
Although in my case, I'm from Scotland but may need to go to London for work so I'll be slapped with potential independance (and all the issues which come from that) AND Brexit in England. Fun, fun stuff.
I get what you are saying, however we are doing great as a united nation at the moment. I wouldn't want to see all this history being undone by some politician trying to line her pockets...
I think we are better together, I cannot imagine an Ununited Kingdom
Foot pain is so bad I cant sleep, the MIU said that it seems to be some kind of soft tissue damage but id have to make an appointment with the doctors in the morning. This suckssss.
