Ian McKellen is first and foremost a stage actor, he chose later on in his life to work in movies (a lot of which use a suspicious amount of green screen). If he hates it as much as that picture claims, he could've easily done other films that used less or no greenscreen or just stuck with theatre

What can you do nowadays if you have a personal interest in acting in fantasy films. I'm not an actor myself, but I think he chooses his jobs by what personally resonates with him and where he can connect with people, not by the paycheck or fame. The trend in movie-making, especially with fantasy and sci-fi flicks, is obviously using more and more cgi actors and sets. The job he's doing is changing into a world where the reasons the actors chose the profession in the first place are disappearing. It's like a doctor's job turning completely away from treating people.

I just did a little further digging into what happened and I understand now. the problem I had was how someone so accomoplished could brush off what so many others deal with just fine.
In many cases (new actors in particular) are put into situations where they're interacting with a lead character in a movie, but due to scheduling often the lead actor isn't even on set and forces the smaller actor to act with a reader (anyone from a fellow actor to the assistant director.

Did you consider that maybe he became an actor because he wanted to work on stage with other people, interacting with them, learning how to play off their acting and getting to know people.
Can you imagine if they took your normal job and whacked you in a green room with no other employees to talk to or work with the entire shift, can you imagine how boring and unpleasant that might be?
I don't think Ian was upset because acting in front of a green screen is hard. I think he might have been upset because they were making him perform one of the most social jobs there is, completely isolated from other people.

The original creator/director/writer is in charge, and it's on adult swim, so it'd take an act of god for it to not be faithful to the original.
