ive bought 2 limited editons the first was mk 9 and the bust was shit and then dead island which was the standard game with just dlc it was shit lol
halo reach limited edition came with a fucking in-universe 200 page book, shit tons of feelies, and a really nice box
I bought Insomnium's Casket of Sorrow. 46 euros + shipping, gets the album with a bonus song, a t-shirt, a poster signed by the whole band, 3 key straps, a bottle opener, a wristband and 3 pins
The Australia-exclusive Initiation Pack for Saint's Row 2 was pretty awesome. I even wear the basketball jersey occasionally.
i still use the messenger bag i got with mirror's edge all the time packaging in general is just kind of fading away too, just think of the old giant boxes that pc games use to come in. like the giant ass half life box
As do I, and this was FREE with PRE-ORDERING the game, this wasn't a Limited/Special edition thing. Pre-Order the game? Have a bag, not In Game DLC. I also have the Halo Reach Legendary Edition that came with the Statue, I felt like I was carrying a bomb through the mall that day. We only got the Tin, Bullet USB, Money Clip, map/poster and art book. :\
The only two collectors editions of stuff i regret buying is the duke nukem balls of steel edition and the spore galaxy edition Duke's edition was a complete scam I was so annoyed, the bust was tiny the cards were half the size of a normal deck, i made the assumption that there was a set of poker chips (yeah okay fair enough my bad) and it came with two, and the game wasn't all that great, i like it, but not enough that i deem the collectors edition worth it and spore because it was just a crap artbook and the game was alright but not worth the collectors edition again.
That's another thing, I hate how some special editions / collector's editions are only available in other countries. Why not just make all editions available in all countries?
Speaking of which, I am royally pissed off at the moment because Australia and USA get an awesome LE for Saints Row 3 while Europe gets precisely jack shit in that regard. It's either the game or GTFO. Funny FP should mention CE's, got myself the Driver San Francisco CE yesterday. Game, little statue, map, comic book and some in-game content for 20 euros extra. The statue is worth it.
i just saw like 15 cataclysm CE boxes at the local best buy, if only they were wrath CEs instead, cas yall know wrath was better... it was
Just ordered Skyrim, comes with a cloth map and 2 novels. NZ clearly is undeserving of dragon statues :(
I thought the Gears of War 3 Locust Edition (from Webhallen) was pretty neat. It was $270. The statue is 48cm tall.
Same price as the game on its own, didnt preorder, comes with a nice hardback art book, game soundtrack, and a strategy guide. The worst thing now is DIGITAL collectors editions. or preorder bonuses
I really like collectors editions. But most of the time they never come with anything actually worth the price. The Space Marine collectors edition was twice the price for just a nice box, an artbook and a replica Purity seal. The Character cards/Soundtrack were pretty useless. The Halo: Reach Legendary edition was great. I wish more collectors editions were like that. I want Collectors editions that give real things instead of just ingame. Skyrim Collectors edition is kinda pathetic.
The only collectors edition I own is the bioshock 2 one and even then that was bought for me on valentines day from my gf. The artbook and posers are awesome :) Not saying I wouldn't want CE/LE though, but most of the time they cost too much to justify buying them.

Cost $80 and I wear the clothes. :v: It came with- A shirt A pair of boxers An art book The OST 2 posters A pillowcase And it all came in a pizza box. Worth the extra money, the art book is great and the OST is top notch.
Oh and a low quality statue? Look how big this shit is.
Still now worth $150. $80 for a console CE and $70/60 is in my opinion the maximum you should expect from CEs. The principle isn't that they should be more expensive, it's that they should come in little amount only in the first days of the release so it's actually worth collecting. The most expensive CE I have is the Space Marine one (100€ on console) as a birthday gift from my mother - and she basically payed the price of the regular game, I paid the 30 additional €. I also have a few other CE that were barely more expensive more than the regular version (sometimes cheaper because of preordering and sutff).
The most functional special edition version of a game i ever bought was the GTA IV special edition: That lockbox holds some important things in it for me, and i use the duffle bag for the gym.
whats the point of the lockbox when you have no money left to put in?
Same damn price, all you needed to do is pre-order.
whats the point of the lockbox when you have no money left to put in?
It was only 75$, only 15$ more. The bag alone is worth the 15$ as it's pretty good quality with a nice golden color interior. The lock box is a decent size as well, it holds my passport that i've never used. A note i wrote to myself the day my dog died, my collection of 10 2$ bills, two silver certificates (rare 1$ bills from the 30's), my $250 watch, and two ticket stubs from when i went to see Back to the Future when it returned to theatres for a day. Having a neat and safe place to store all that in one place is also well worth 15$
THE FIRST MURDER MURDERING KIT COMES WITH A DEAD BODY AND A COAT THAT SAYS "PUT ME IN JAIL I MURDERED SOMEONE" IT'S ALL BETTER BECAUSE IT'S A FUCKING COLLECTORS EDITION
-snip-
There are some LE/CEs I wish were cheaper, but I usually don't bother with them since I'm broke. My favorite CE however would be the one for Fallout 3. I got the PC version, can't remember whether it was $55 or $65. - Pre-order bottle opener (Which I use all the time.) - Behind the Scenes DVD - Bobblehead doll (That I've managed to keep intact for almost 3 years) - The lunchbox (Can't really find a use for it, since it seems pretty fragile.) - Concept Art book (I flip through the pages from time to time, I love the art style.) When I get some money together, I might get the Skyrim CE. I'm not sure how much the BioShock 2 LE costs, but the last time I saw it at Best Buy it was over $100 ($120-$140 I think.) And it's just... jam-packed, and I like that:
im getting the skyrim ce it owns
I like it when CE's include something from the game's world, and not some lame 'bonus' things like playing cards or T-shirts.
I preordered (as in put the money in their hands) bioshock 2. Came to pick it up, gave my a regular copy and 40 of my dollars back. "We ran out."
I preordered (as in put the money in their hands) bioshock 2. Came to pick it up, gave my a regular copy and 40 of my dollars back. "We ran out."
Thats why you dont use GameStop.
there needs to be more LE/CEs with posters and feelies feelies rock
im getting the skyrim ce it owns
Meh, 150€ for a statue and nothing else ain't worth it.
I preordered (as in put the money in their hands) bioshock 2. Came to pick it up, gave my a regular copy and 40 of my dollars back. "We ran out."
They didn't order enough of them for all the people that wanted to buy it? Total bullshit.
