Didn't really see this thread before Wednesday(So I didn't bother, because of the tight deadline), and I can't really make a bong right now, living with my mom and shit. I'd love to try some other time though, I occasionally travel to this town up in these mountains where all my friends are at, living by myself and shit. We could probably come up with something great, with our stoner-engineering skills.

Mine is 4 years old and probably doesn't heat up enough. Although the socket gets pretty hot, that also might be a problem, using a metal that can't transfer enough heat to the herb.

Can I find some guides on this explaining the science behind it in detail? I wanna hit the bong sometime anyways. I got two cans of beer, a giant 2l bottle and loads of pens I dont use anymore.

Alright the design I didn't have time to build: 1st chamber is a waterbottle, with a bowl going through the cap, connected to a straw that goes down to the bottom where it bubbles out through some holes. Then the smoke travels up in the water, maybe through some honeycomb sort of things. Once it comes out of the water it travels through a hole to the 2nd chamber, which was going to be the cool part. In the 2nd chamber there's an Archimedes' Screw powered by a fast motor on an axel running out the top (to keep the motor safe). Basically, if my idea works, the screw will be pushing the air out a hole at the bottom of the side of the chamber, enough to keep the bowl going and pull the smoke down the straw and through the water. Then once it made it into the 2nd chamber it would probably look hella cool to see the screw spinning like crazy and the smoke flowing through. Then I figured out how to make swappable attachments by having a bottle cap at the exit hole, and then you use bottle necks to screw in and attach a whip or bag or some shit. The obvious issues that could come up are all basically about the screw, you'll want to get it as flush to the bottle as you can, and the number of threads and the optimal angle for them is worth looking into So yeah if someone manages to build this and show that it works that would be dope, although I would really be surprised if someone managed it by the end of the contest...

You wouldn't even need the motor, the force of the pull would be enough to self sustain the motion of the Archimedes Screw. Assuming of course the screw is made of something lightweight like plastic or paper.

It's meant to be a elevation pump for water. But due to the physics of smoke, how would that work?

Kind of like fan An axle that has a pile of fan blades on it might work also But basically if you're an air particle and this swings by and hits you, you're gonna get knocked down, and once you're at the bottom there's nowhere to go but out Or I could be completely wrong but I haven't had time to prototype so yeah
