because if you want to do well then just play the game yourself
tpp isnt about doing well its about the chaos of tens of thousands of people playing the same game at the same time
Oh hey, came here just in time to see the anarchy clusterfuck in the ghost gym.

It's about whatever the collective wants it to be

I like to think this way as well. If they don't make any progress or release all their pokemon, I don't care. I render myself completely neutral. If something goes wrong, I laugh and if they actually manage to do some kind of well-coordinated maneuver, I get impressed. The reason I don't take this so seriously is because I understand that I am not the only one playing the game, I am just a drop in the ocean of spammers and idiots, so if something doesn't go the way I want it to, I can always make a single player game for myself and do it there instead. Getting angry because for example you didn't catch a really good pokemon is like getting mad at your team in a multiplayer game which has no mechanics that support teamwork whatsoever.
I find democracy mode boring because it slows the process of things happening and that it takes away from the challenge of doing shit. People have become really good at democracy mode in the sense that people are actually compensating for lag, people know to use combo moves like up2down2 etc, the vote time is longer further bettering it in lag, and there are less start9 protests when it comes up. So the fun in democracy of maybe keeping some of the chaos of people 'rioting' or spamming the wrong inputs is all gone. You get funny shit by making mistakes like the Odyssey that is crossing the ledges, bloody sunday of releasing a shitton of pokemon, and making legends like Dux the master cuter and bird jesus. Humans need the challenge to create some sort of joy from watching this. Here the challenge is randomness, it has the slight inkling of control mixed in with random reward (ex gambling). In speed runs RNG and time is the challenge, yes they do everything perfect but its fun to see the clock ticking and the omg moments rng and human error bring.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Ledge 2.0

It is necessary sometimes though, the gym they are stuck at is practically impossible without it. All it takes is one asshole to type in the wrong button, even a well meaning person will fuck things up and drop them down the hole more frequently than someone actually being helpful.
now would probably be a relevant time to ask if anyone else always heard the 'falling down' impact noise to sound like "JACK KEROUAC"
What the fuck? I left for two minutes and you already voted out of democracy?
Screw this, I'll check back in an hour. It's not like they're gonna go anywhere.

Actually it didn't even go to democracy mode. For some reason, it skipped it entirely.
How long have they been at this gym?
I've always found democracy fun because it's a refreshing change of pace from the insanity of anarchy. Particularly because of the difficulty of getting everyone to agree on a course of action then executing that action and adjusting to compensate for lag all before anarchy is inevitably restored. Plus because of the vote time every failure has a greater impact as failure in democracy, particularly with ledges, is very time consuming so it makes watching the votes tally up intense. It's also really satisfying to see everyone successfully making order of chaos and working together towards a common goal for a short time. Anarchy has similar moments though it depends on the situation.
That being said most of the fun of the stream is in anarchy mode and unless democracy is needed then that's where it should stay. Especially since democracy would get really boring in any situation where failure is not a significant threat and we'd basically be watching a stream of someone playing pokemon properly.
Wow this gym is a nightmare
It looks like we might actually start to get somewhere now, the anarchists have calmed down and aren't getting much more than 40 votes.
I knew we'd get stuck at this gym the moment that they announced the second Gen. Not the floor only of course, but the battle itself is tough with that damnable Gengar.
Watch as the anarchists start crying like babies once democracy makes it through again.

As soon as we step over, anarchists will take the reins and either lose the battle or walk us backwards into the hole.

Nah, democracy will start the battle, and then they're pretty even matched when it comes to democracy/anarchy.
Anarchy is just a bit more chaotic, and at least we will have 6 fully healed pokemon this time.
Back to the beggining, right on the last turn.
GODDAMMIT.
GOD DAMN IT
We were at the LAST FUCKING TURN
We were tied for up and left and were shy y a few votes before it took the vote.
