Why would it be ironic? Kanye is one of the most highly influential hip-hop artists today. Some would even argue he redefined the genre at some point in time(i'm not sure which album or year)
There are a couple different schools of thought, The College Dropout was "chipmunk soul" hip-hop that came out at a time when crunk or gangsta was the prevailing form of rap, Graduation outsold 50 Cent's Curtis album which dropped on the same day and was seen as signaling the end of gangsta rap's dominance, 808s and Heartbreak laid the groundwork for the new wave of more introspective hip-hop artists like Kid Cudi or Drake. [editline]29th September 2016[/editline] I wouldn't call it influential but The Life of Pablo was definitely an interesting album in that it was changed and updated in the weeks following its release (as it was digital-only streaming).
Personally I respect Kanye for his work, even when his personality is what it is, but many artists possess a pompous, even narcissistic personality, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't be talented or influential. I just never cared for his music because hip-hop/rap is something that I never got into, it's just not my type of music.
Plenty of great artists were narcissistic asswipes, Kanye being one doesn't preclude him from being a great musician. Personally I don't listen to that kind of music, it's never drawn me in like other genres have. But I do respect him as an artist, even if I can't appreciate his art.
I like some of Kanye's songs but from what I've listened to they're good and catchy but the man is an idiot. He doesn't know that Spartan's weren't Roman.
you're only making it harder to tell if you're being ironic or not and i'm not even sure if that's your intention
If you know me you know that I'm a massive Ye stan and one of the biggest on fp easily
