Why does it make it in bad taste? It's just as 'vulgar' as any other day of the year. I don't see a point in people being angry about it,they need to just see it, shake their head in disgust or whatever, and move along.
I am not angry, just pointing out that people should also remember that thousands of live were lost. To me this is the equivalent of telling joke about someone's mom on the anniversary of her death (except to several thousand people at once). I do agree with you though in that I am going to move along. I have stated my opinion, and there is not much else to say.

Take a look inside the Pictures That Shook The World thread and see what happened up close and then try to make a joke. Take a long good look at every single picture and story in that thread and then tell me if it's still funny.
my friend's homecoming dressup is twins.
on 9/11.
9/11 is my birthday. I'm 20 and feeling old cause I just left my teens and now this shit about buildings? Aw fuck.
I'm surprised how well those two videos sync up.
ok wow seriously
and then you guys talk about 4chan
Today is my birthday
Nobody cares if it's your birthday. Nobody.

The same thing happens with everything. People make Holocaust jokes all the time.
It's inevitable to happen as time goes on.
humor is a coping mechanism
Nobody cares if it's your birthday. Nobody.
I care.
It's my grandfather's birthday tomorrow too. He was in the city when the towers collapsed.

I dunno about you guys, but I cry every time
I never got the 9/11 is funny fad, I am not saying you can not joke about tragic things but making it where the tragedy itself is the punchline seems immature and a bit sick. So I may get boxs, but thousands of innocent people died, while I think we should be moving on, I know people who lost family/friends in the attack and I think this is kind of disgusting behavior.
I suggest you guys read some of the first hand accounts, the "photos that shook the world" thread has some (Including the one below which is relatively tame). While they are graphic they serve as a reminder that you guys are getting your kicks at footage of thousands of lives being lost.
I agree with you. The only kind of people who have made 9/11 jokes haven't gone through all the hell and conspiracies that the famillies had to go through. I think to lose someone is bad but when, at the end of the day nobody ever needed to die in those buildings or the ones saving people in the building. So many people lost someone that day I don't think I could even laugh at a 9/11 joke. Even that tacky trance video was upsetting and left a lump in my throat.
I lost my cousin in the South Tower when it went down.
R.I.P Jim

9/11 Americans won't get this joke
The holocaust is made fun of in LMAO pics all the time, and millions of lives were lost there. But I think the US needs to get over 9/11. It's been 11 years, move on already.
you're using the shitheap that is LMAO pics as a guage for what's actually funny?
I'm sorry, people do need to move past 9/11, but cracking shitty immature jokes is not the way that it's done. anyone who thinks shit like this is funny just because it's america is fucked. sure, make fun of our patriotism, sure, make fun of the south and our terrible school system and archaic view of social matters, but making light of the deaths of thousands of people is disturbing. just like people who crack holocaust jokes or jokes about the flooding in japan or southeast asia back in 2004. jokes about utoya, oslo. jokes about the bombing of hiroshima. jokes about genocide. sure, they can think it's edgy, or even cool, but in the end making huge jokes about the deaths and legitimate sufferings of people shows a huge lack of human empathy.
i don't know how it gets passed along on the internet like it's one big joke, death seriously isn't funny. i find it wholly disturbing how apathetic people seem to be about widespread pain and suffering.
[editline]10th September 2012[/editline]
especially not when it's caused by another person.
i'd actually honestly like to know when a holocaust joke has been acceptable by a respectable person in any venue besides the internet. any "laugh" i've heard from people at a holocaust joke was more of an awkward laugh more akin to "cannot believe you actually said that".
Can't wait for those lil fucks on twitter to go like 'OMFG IS 9/11 REAL OMFG I THOUGHT IT WAS A MOVIE' like they did about the titanic.
I would bash the shit out of these idiots.

HA "whiteknighting" Are you serious?
You're only white knighting if you are alone in your opinion. TRUST ME, this guy is far from alone.
Sorry guys im a bit late to the party! Lets bomb Iraq!

You've been here long enough to know that when it comes to 9/11 people like the humor like they like their slaves.
Black.
this isn't "black comedy". pryor, carlin, kubrik & some of monty python are black comedy. black comedy is dark and dry. this isn't dark or dry, it's stupid "lolcomedy" that people keep doing over and over again. there's no satire in this.
Holy fuck bro could you white knight any harder. This isnt sensationalist headlines you know.
do you say this to aid workers in darfur
Well I just really don't see any humor in the video, some people may and they have that right. But while you may not think it is so in this case, too many people are making the whole thing out to be a joke.
I think this is part of it, I was relatively young when it happened, so for a few years it really did not sink in. I knew it was bad but other than seeing some still pictures and a talk in our class, I never really knew how bad it really was. After talking to some people who had family/friends either in the tower or that witnessed it, and reading/watching first hand accounts it really opened my eyes.
That's really just Facepunch for you, well, that's a lot of the internet for you. I'd like to think that some people rated the video funny because of the music playing, or maybe because the guy said "It's so hot in here!", but there are people out there that just don't always think the same way that me and you might. I think it's a serious matter and nothing to laugh about, but there will always be those people out there that are cruel, mean and really just don't give a shit. I also think that some people can't take it serious because they've never had first hand experience of something so tragic like 9/11 involve them or their families, but that's just me guessing. A lot of Facepunch's members are also very young and were just toddlers when 9/11 happened, so it'd be easy to guess that they don't understand or think the way we do.

See I don't laugh at every single horrible joke that's thrown at me, but sometimes one is funny. I just don't want to live my life as a sad sack every time someone mentions a sad event. I would never laugh at a joke in front of someone who was affected by the event, but sometimes a little chuckle alone. I don't think it matters what you laugh at or not or even think it's funny. It's bad and unsympathetic when you are laughing at a holocaust joke in front of Elie Wiesel.
I still don't see why people can't show a little respect for 9/11 and it's victims, just because some stereotypical annoying patriotic american's didn't shut up about it doesn't mean we can't have a dignified remembering of the nearly 3,000 people that died during 9/11.
