I remember last year on 9/11 I was playing Project Reality and I was playing Taliban and I was doing exceptionally well with blowing up humvees with IEDs that day - heck it was the best round I was having in awhile
It felt ironic and morbid
a moment of silence for the honorable terrorists that died in those planes. may Allah give peace to their souls.
And now a tribute from Ecuadorian singer Delfin Quishpe.

The sad thing is that the guy means well, making the song to mourn a girlfriend he lost at the World Trade Center, and the lyrics match that.
But he just HAD to choose techno music and use cheap greenscreen to project himself over the news/eyewitness footage of the attack.
He probably made the video to temporarily distract himself from the fact his girlfriend is dead.
Doing other things while mourning can help.

an example of actual, humorous black comedy about 9/11
I'm dying inside more and more after every post in this thread.
I've been amused for the past few hours reading these retweets.

This thread is pissing me off just a bit. How can people not feel a little sick watching 2 planes barrel into some of the most iconic buildings in the US? It's fucking terrifying watching those things fall apart, there's nothing funny about it. I don't give a shit if I sound anal, but those clips are just sad.
I find it a bit hard to feel bad for America when their 3,000 victims were the direct cause of the hundreds of thousand of families that died in Iraq and other countries as a retaliation for 9/11.
One tragedy shouldn't overshadow the other, but it's a bit hypocritical of anyone to get offended by 9/11 jokes and then conveniently forget all the other horrible shit people collectively laugh at. Or even worse, climb on a moral high horse and pretend he has never laughed at a joke at the expense of a dead person or a tragic historic event.
How easily you forget that the United States wasn't the only country that went in to both Iraq and Afghanistan, what about the UK, Australia, Romania, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, Poland, New Zealand, France, Germany, Turkey and several others? We didn't roll in there alone, we were supported so if anything, feel empathy for the deaths of everyone involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the victims of 9/11, the London Bombings, and the attacks in France.

Go to any 9/11 video on Youtube. The comments are truly disgusting. Are the deaths of many people funny to a lot of people? The whole hate on America bandwagon has gotten truly old. 9/11 jokes can sometimes be made funny but when 99% have become "LOL PLANE WRONG" it has gotten out of control.
humor is a coping mechanism
Since I doubt any of these people here are coping with extreme grief it's not really (not that I care though)
This is irrelevant, but is the American emergency number 911 because of 9/11, or was it already 911?
This is irrelevant, but is the American emergency number 911 because of 9/11, or was it already 911?
It was 9-1-1 long before 9/11.
Well I just really don't see any humor in the video, some people may and they have that right. But while you may not think it is so in this case, too many people are making the whole thing out to be a joke.
I think this is part of it, I was relatively young when it happened, so for a few years it really did not sink in. I knew it was bad but other than seeing some still pictures and a talk in our class, I never really knew how bad it really was. After talking to some people who had family/friends either in the tower or that witnessed it, and reading/watching first hand accounts it really opened my eyes.
And I'm sure when people meet survivors or people who experienced it they have nothing but the utmost respect and compassion for them. Laughing about it doesn't make it less incredibly powerful when presented in the right light.
It was 9-1-1 long before 9/11.
So, it's possible that they chose the 11th of September because of that?
So what are you guys doing for 9/11's birthday?
But really, the reason a lot of people find it hilarious is just because of the sheer amount of people that have basically made a holiday out of an incredibly bad attack.
People that act patriotic because a shitload of people die are why people continue to joke about 9/11
First of all, it's kind of a thing in the US to make holidays after terrible/amazing events in our history, last time I checked I didn't get 9/11 off, nor does anyone else. It's a day of remembrance and a day to reflect on the fortunes of our lives and give a moment of silence to those lost 11 years ago.
Second of all, 12 of my friends and I are going to give blood at the Red Cross, there's a huge movement of people doing it all across the country, we had to call four different centers just to find times to do it.
So, it's possible that they chose the 11th of September because of that?
possible, improbable.
I think today should be a celebration of emergency services and first responders.
You can glorify it in your own culture all you want.
But to other cultures it just looks like a progressive circlejerk of unneeded patriotism.
To us, your "celebration" of 9/11 is incredibly overplayed, It's as if we went around in australian flags punching foreigners for our ANZAC day. Even if that does happen, it's frowned on by every single non retarded Australian and pretty much everyone in the media.
yeah and to us you look like a dick for complaining about our culture
I'm in New Zealand, it WAS 9/11.
Then it is mutual.
america worst country
at least we're not upside down
NO IT'S 11.09.2012 TOMORROW YOU ARE ALL DOING IT WRONG!
edit:
oh god, let the late rate bombing begin D:
I'm so glad my grandpa retired from his job in the building a couple years before the attacks. He was shot as a security guard defending a secured van carrying a load of money to the trade center not too long ago (was in the paper, but I can't find the article). He retired from the job with minor wounds. The attacks happened. My grandfather wishes to thank the man that shot him, as he saved his life in a way.
Lets take this opportunity to reflect on, not only what happened on that fateful day, but the tyrannical swashbuckling in the Middle East that followed causing hundreds of thousands of deaths in the name of "freedom" and "democracy".
God bless the FDNY for all their heroic efforts on that day.
Oh hey guys, you just need to get over the 9 thousand people that died! It's funny now!
I still don't see why people can't show a little respect for 9/11 and it's victims, just because some stereotypical annoying patriotic american's didn't shut up about it doesn't mean we can't have a dignified remembering of the nearly 3,000 people that died during 9/11.
And keep dying. Hundreds of people got lung cancer from it, mostly firemen and police officers. Asbestos everywhere.
