Oh hey guys, you just need to get over the 9 thousand people that died! It's funny now!
More than 11,000 died in the bombing of Darmstadt on September 11, 1944. But they were nazis so whatever.
See I don't laugh at every single horrible joke that's thrown at me, but sometimes one is funny. I just don't want to live my life as a sad sack every time someone mentions a sad event. I would never laugh at a joke in front of someone who was affected by the event, but sometimes a little chuckle alone. I don't think it matters what you laugh at or not or even think it's funny. It's bad and unsympathetic when you are laughing at a holocaust joke in front of Elie Wiesel.
I can understand where you're coming from. Some people like to laugh over the past, be a little optimistic and try not to dwell on the bad things. I'm just saying that there are some people that will straight up laugh out loud that 9/11 happened, as if it was a joke for the world to see.
i was eating cake on 9/11 it tasted so good.
we r all haved are human bengs and we r all deservd to live it cold have bean us in that tower that day finked about that
Oh hey guys, you just need to get over the 9 thousand people that died! It's funny now!
See, that attitude goes too far to the opposite side of the argument. You CAN make amusing jokes regarding the events of 9/11 (though it's hard to do), but it's also important to respect the people who take 9/11 as a day of remembrance. Most of the people I've talked to who say "get over it" are not saying that we shouldn't have respect for what happened, but rather that, as a country, we shouldn't keep dwelling on it year after year as if it happened a month ago. An obvious exception to this would be for the people who lost someone in the attacks.
To us, your "celebration" of 9/11 is incredibly overplayed, It's as if we went around in australian flags punching foreigners for our ANZAC day. Even if that does happen, it's frowned on by every single non retarded Australian and pretty much everyone in the media.

Because you mourn deaths, you don't celebrate them.
No one calls 9/11 a "celebration" this already tells me how ignorant you are. Literally all we did today was read the names at ground zero, are you really going to criticize even that? Some people choose to go to the memorial to pay their respects, nobody "goes around in american flags" and "punches foreigners" to "celebrate 9/11". Are you retarded? No seriously answer me here.
today on 9/11, in my city a tram crashed into the back of another, it was tram 9 and tram 11, what a coincidence..
over 20,000 aboriginal australians died in the frontier wars (not the only conflict between the british and the natives) but oh well we apologized and we do nothing else. wonder why? Because you mourn deaths, you don't celebrate them.
yeah, i cook out and play god bless amurica while having videos of the twin towers being hit in the living room all day. are you retarded?

I haven't heard a single person say today that it's 9/11 and that we should have a moment of silence or whatever. people have this massive misconception about america that we just walk around with our heads in our chests sobbing uncontrollably all day. we're not. the only time 9/11 comes up in conversation is in educated discussions about american foreign policy and during the republican campaign trail do get the stupid people that will actually use it as an issue to vote over. every news organization is talking about the presidential campaign today. [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] seriously, i don't get why people think we're running around all day saying "oh poor me oh poor me 9/11 9/11." other states probably get a different view of traditional american life because they seem to think that what republicans say during their campaigning is what happens in everyday life its not
I never knew so many people on here were uptight motherfuckers about 9/11. I live in NYC and my father works for IBI and his company was scheduled to move into one of the towers a couple weeks after 9/11, of course that never actually happened. I even personally know someone that was lost in 9/11, he was my brothers friend and I was 12 at the time and he was ex-army at 24 or 25, he was a cool guy from what I remember correctly. You don't see me crying about it, hell I don't give a rats ass about 9/11 and crack jokes to my friends all day long on 9/11 about it.
well you are 20 hours behind and use the worst forms of measurement. your minimum wage is incredibly low and you have the highest serial killer count in the world. australia es numero uno Let's stop this, it's a pointless argument.
you're all descendants of people who committed crimes so heinous they had to be sent off to live in seclusion on another continent [editline]11th September 2012[/editline]
Found a relevant picture.
Found a relevant picture.
Yeah well it turns out you're wrong. No one has said that it was the worst thing to happen to humanity ever, it turns out! The plague killed more people then both Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined, but whatever, keep living in your bigoted, closed in world!
well you are 20 hours behind and use the worst forms of measurement. your minimum wage is incredibly low and you have the highest serial killer count in the world. australia es numero uno
Your overly zealous patriotism is extremely hypocritical and kinda hilarious. You sound just as bad as the people who say America is #1
Less than 20 percent of the original settlers were criminals. Nice to know the history they teach you in american schools. And even so, the criminals they sent were literally the "Overflow" and were given land to make farms and etc. They were given a "free" life.
maybe so, but that ruins the joke
See here the thing, For a lot (most) of people outside the americas, 9/11 did not affect us.
this is p wrong, the events of the 9/11 attacks were pretty significant in pretty much every european foreign policy right alongside american foreign policy notice how the french started to hate on muslims just a bit more? notice how the uk became even more of the US's bitch? notice how a slew of countries joined the united states in afghanistan, iraq, and pursuing the "war on terror"? sure, you can dislike america all you'd like, but don't be stupid about your own foreign policy lmfao "yeah stateless actors that commit murder have absolutely 0 effect on my country" [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] i also absolutely love your argument "we're not making these jokes because we're dicks, but you should accept that we're gonna be dicks" ok lol [editline]11th September 2012[/editline] ALL IM SAYING IS if you're gonna be a cunt own up to the fact that you're being a cunt! :)
You guys could just accept that people will be dicks.
Okay guys don't worry, he's not incredibly ignorant he's just a dick. False alarm.
You guys get all uppity at the mention of a joke or anyone trying to say that they do it for any other reason than "In am insensitive fuck"
Because most of the time the "jokes" are just shit. Its not even dark humor, its just shit. I like how you accuse us of "getting uppity" apparently you're oblivious to some of the stupid "9/11, LOL" shit posted in this thread. Also its important to remember that every American was affected differently, I live in the northeast, near New York, so I know people that lost family/friends in 9/11 and, no, some of them are not over it. And no, they are not going to get over it because some ignorant foreigner says "ugggh get over it already" And some Americans don't really feel strongly about 9/11, because they were too young/didn't know anyone.
See though, this is the sort of thing which makes every make these jokes. You guys get all uppity at the mention of a joke or anyone trying to say that they do it for any other reason than "In am insensitive fuck" See here the thing, For a lot (most) of people outside the americas, 9/11 did not affect us. Sure we felt sorry for you for maybe the first year or two, but now it's just a joke to us. We arent directly joking about the deaths, when someone makes a joke about 9/11 the laughs come from the supreme idiocy surrounding it (Conspiracy theorists are the main cause) You guys could just accept that people will be dicks.
Wow you're really making yourself look like a massively xenophobic retard, congrats champ you now fit the stereotype of an American.
oh, so you're trolling?
yeah
You can glorify it in your own culture all you want. But to other cultures it just looks like a progressive circlejerk of unneeded patriotism. To us, your "celebration" of 9/11 is incredibly overplayed, It's as if we went around in australian flags punching foreigners for our ANZAC day. Even if that does happen, it's frowned on by every single non retarded Australian and pretty much everyone in the media.
i turned it into a country v country debate lmao

Im not even being a lol amurica is #1 kinda person. like winters said, you are acting like Austurlia is #1.
wait wait wait
Then it is mutual. america worst country
sorry yeah i made this a country debate
no it's today
Believe what you want, I already said we should stop this because I'm still going to laugh at 9/11 jokes no matter what. I explained it best i could without actually trying to troll/annoy but you took it as if i were anyway. You should just stop before we all get banned.
if you made a legitimate attempt to not troll you did a shit job lol
Sometimes I just don't get facepunch. A lot of facepunchers talk about how high and mighty they are compared to reddit and 4chan in terms of the intelligence of their posts and humor. And then threads like this happen and show that as a community we really aren't all that different from them.
Something I found a long time back and eventually put to youtube:
