Something that strikes me is that they're using battle droids, something that I haven't seen since the prequels
Did I hear Asajj?
What the fuck is going on?
There is Darth Maul, Ahsoka, THRAWN? The trailer is epic??? Wasnt this supposed to be children cartoon flick?????? By the loos of it, this is Clone Wars tier.
So is Rebels any good then? I remember before it came out people where being put off by early previews.

The first trailers had horrible animation, in particular compared to the clone wars. This was still somewhat of an issue in the first few episodes, but once they had some assets in place the whole thing massively improved.
The story was always solid though and since season 2 it's basically a continuation of clone wars. Their budget is just smaller and it shows on the visual side a bit. (clone wars had like one mil per episode paid directly fomr lucas' pocket)

Basically people forget that the Clone wars started off pretty bad but got massively better over time, Rebels actually had a good start compared to the first season of the Clone Wars and just like the Clone Wars it's only been getting better since then.
Plus a lot of the people who hated on it previously only really hated on it because it was taking over FROM the Clone Wars in the first place, it's a good show overall and it's been getting closer and closer to what Clone Wars achieved too each season, most of season 1, all of Season 2 were pretty awesome, season 2 really hit the show off though and this season seems to have finally hit the notes later Clone Wars seasons were hitting.

Yeah Disney didn't want to supply them with money until they knew the show would do well, which it has and even then, after that fact, they give them quite a tight budget compared to Lucas who basically bank rolled the entire show, but I'll be damned if they haven't improved from season 1, the show looks fantastic at times.
Glad to see CIS droids. Sucks they'll probably only show up in one episode, or at best a two-parter. I really love those damnable things.
I'm still hoping or waiting they give us SOMETHING of the duality of the Rebels and Empire. People love the Empire, lets see some cool Empire shit.

I'd like them to go back into some more focus with Kallus, after that one episode where he got handed back to the Empire you can see he's starting to doubt his loyalty, want to see them expand on that shit.

I don't want Kallus to defect.
People were dumbing the shit out of this show when it first got announced, what's changed?

It got darker and more interesting at the end of season 1 into season 2; plus [sp]seeing rex as a grandpa clone is awesome [/sp]
I don't want Kallus to defect.
Him straight up defecting would be boring, I'd rather see them play with his emotions more and have it give some big effect like him indirectly helping them or something, he'll still be imperial but he'll have his own motives.

They're heading somewhere with him after that episode where he was trapped with Zeb.
Liking the use of Boba Fett concept art to create Imperial Mandalorians.

Their helmets are also based on Boba Fett concept art
Between TFA and Rebels, they're pushing out designs based on McQuarrie's artwork like there's no tomorrow. It's almost overwhelming, I mean they used it for reference back in the Clone Wars show too, but the degree to which they've been doing it here is almost nuts.

Nuts in the best way though, a lot of Mcquarrie's designs were fantastic.
Still waiting for competent stormtroopers.
Still waiting for competent stormtroopers.
Stormtroopers aren't all elite, nor the best of the best, or Clonetroopers, like the EU loved to make almost every single one of them out to be, though elite Stormtroopers do exist in the new canon, not every single one of them is going to be the best soldier ever, The Empire is HUGE after all and so the rank and file who we regularly see are average soldiers, hell space policemen at best, who've probably never been in a proper fight before.
Plus we DO see a lot of competency for the Stormtroopers, especially those under the command of someone like Grand Moff Tarkin or to a lesser extent Agent Kallus at least in some areas, but you can't expect a backwater planet to have the best troops ever stationed on it, I mean think of the bumfucks who were in charge BEFORE they were executed for incompetency, the planet they were on didn't exactly have the greatest training regime ever for people who wanted to become a Strormtrooper, because it's a backwater planet of no consequence, that is until the rebels made enough of a ruckus which led to the Empire stepping everything up a notch.
I mean it's like some people, like yourself expect Stormtroopers to be something like a Clonetrooper, when ones just some average guy doing a job and the other was literally bred for war.
Still waiting for competent stormtroopers.
lol why do people keep saying this?
The stormtroopers can seemingly never hit anyone because if they did then the main characters would all die and then you wouldnt have a show.
The problem is not the main characters, I can understand plot armor. It's just even if they went a different planet all those stormies are equally as incompetent. Like why only time they're shown as competent and a real threat is when someone like Tarkin or Vader having to direct them, are they just so bad that they need an equally untouchable character to advance them?
I'm saying they need to be something more feared rather than just "Oh it's Stormtroopers."
Like don't make them fucking all Delta Force operators who can drop them from a billion miles away, I'm saying make them actually something they need to be mindful of. Have them be able to take people like Hera,Sabine,Ezra, and Kanan in hand to hand if some how got there, have their squads actually seem like they're well coordinated, etc, etc. But being mindful the heroes themselves are skilled and will put up more of a fight than most soldiers, bandits, etc.

I meant this more in the factor, why is bad side of the Rebellion and the good side of the Empire.
There is no way the Rebels are a squeaky clean band of misfits, with something as big and expansive and always looking for allies there's no doubt you have people who are terrible. Let alone you'd have cells who attack Imperial Citizens, innocent people, bomb medical facilities, etc
Whilst on the flip side you'll have your normal everyday Imperial Citizen, who goes about their lives normally. Stormtroopers who have families or signed up to protect people, and then they see an act of terror committed against the citizens of the Empire.
Hell AFAIK the Empire in the EU was pretty stable till they blew up Alderaan. They enjoyed a lot of support outside the Outer Rim, many people even from Alderaan were happy to be in the Empire but then huge number of them defected or left because of what happened.
Well Rogue One is meant to show us some of the 'bad side' of the Rebels.
