little do you realize how kings field, armored core, souls games, and BB are all set on the same universe
Two series are set in the Dark Ages, one in 1800s London, and the other's in the future. It's LONG stretch, but it's possible. Maybe Patches is a family name? :v: Jokes aside, Bloodborne combat in Dark Souls III is a nice change of pace. I found myself dying one too many times for relying on a shield thinking that I could easily tank a boss whose hand is as big as my body. Now I have more options in combat with dodging and countering. My questions, though more appropriate in a megathread: What/Who do you want to return? What do imagine on what's going to happen lorewise?
I for one am totally hyped by the idea of a Bloodborne/Ds1/Demon Souls mixture, that sounds like the stuff of dreams
I really hope they focus on the lore and level design as much as they did in DS1. DS2's was... eh. In DS1, they set up all of these important figures right at the start, and you eventually learn that you actually have to bring them all down. In DS2, it's just "Go kill this big guy." "Why is he important?" "He's big, so he has big guts. You need big guts because reasons." "I am the queen of this place." "I don't see many citizens" "I AM QUEEN AND YOU WILL DO WHAT I SAY BECAUSE I AM THE QUEEN". There was only one fight that actually felt like it had any story weight to it, [sp]where you put the old king out of his misery.[/sp] And I don't think I even need to mention the terrible world design.

In the first one, there was always an amount of vagueness and ambiguity, but you always had a pretty clear idea of what you were doing and why. You could find lore that wasn't entirely integral to the plot but made the areas you explored all the more fascinating. In Dark Souls 2, for the most part, you never know what you are doing, or why. This would be okay, if it was handled sort of like "you were being manipulated the whole time" but the person in Majula actually tells you what to do, just in a really stupid and vague way.
Environmental art looks absolutely amazing.

Every single item description was so forgettable.
Except Alva's shit and the black witch shit. It was cool having two item set backstories intertwined.
And here I am having not even really played DS1 yet. I need to hurry up before I fall completely behind.
we got footage boys and girls, in the OP now
That sword swing is straight out of Demon's Souls. Faster than in Demon's Souls though. The movement also looks a lot better than it is in DS2, the animations are a lot faster like in DS1 or Demon's Souls.
Ugh, just take me now From Soft
little do you realize how kings field, armored core, souls games, and BB are all set on the same universe
At the end of Dark Souls 3, you light the first flame, only to find out it's the ignition of an Armored Core which you pilot to defeat the abyss in Verdite
we got footage boys and girls, in the OP now
found 16min of gameplay http://www.ign.com/videos/2015/08/05/16-minutes-of-dark-souls-3-gameplay-gamescom-2015
Yeah this is a concern I have. Really comes off as milking the cow dry. And I'm honestly not sure how many more "souls" games I can take so soon after another when the first Dark Souls already almost perfected it. Getting a small case of "been there, done that". Not quite worn out but noticeably more so. At least Bloodborne was good and that was pretty new. But really even still the gameplay was almost exactly like souls but with small tweaks and changes. That said I wouldn't mind them doing something like Bloodborne again - clearly the exact same style of game but totally different in style/world/themes. Feels a lot fresher than just doing direct sequels.
Well, it was stated that this is the last "souls" game. It's not the end of games in the vein of bloodborne or ds but it's the last one in this series of fantasy so to speak. I personally would like a sci-fi space pirate souls game on a derelict spaceship but that comes later.
Oh they added the whole trick weapon system from BB. Not that it's actuall trick weapons but the fact that you can attack and change the way you wield it at the same time (like 1h greatsword to 2h)
Seems like Bazuso has made a return yet again :v:

Hopefully this means they're going to make a sick nasty moonlight where the transformed state is the blade from the AC games.
ahh use your damn shield
...For parrying!
I feel like Dark Souls 2 just came out.
youtube version
The icon for estus changing based on how much juice you have left is a nice touch, wonder if there'll be anymore quality of life changes like that. Like being able to use multiple soul items at a time in DaS2, such a small thing yet so much more intuitive.
Loving how cool and unique the enemies look, that's already vastly superior compared to DS2's simple and generic enemy designs.

I really hope they mention Eleum Loyce in DS3, as well as what they did to restrain the Chaos from spreading. That place was by far my favorite in DS2.
ahh use your damn shield
shields are for pussies. throw that shit away
