Now let's hope they don't pull a DaS2 and gimp the graphics engine to hell and back between this demo and the final release.

There were plenty of reused things in the DS3 trailer. They are shitting out too many games. Two souls games (I'm counting bloodborne since their gameplay is still very similar) in less than a year. Dark Souls II in April 2014 and Bloodborne in March 2015, then scholar of the first sin thing a few weeks after and Dark Souls III most likely coming next year. How about spending some actual time on the games and evolving the franchise and stop fucking reusing bosses and assets.

Dark Souls 2 plays completely differently from 1 among other things, and Bloodborne, despite being similar, plays very differently and is in an entirely different setting. And regarding the assets, yeah, they tend to reuse basic sound effects, and they've tweaked some of the old attack animations. But I don't really see how that matters when there's so much new stuff, especially mechanics wise. Don't really understand what you mean by reusing bosses though. Do you mean boss concepts? No boss assets are being reused. All things considered, I would wait with the "oh it's just the same game over again" until the game's actually out.
They actually reused a ton of stuff from Demon's Souls in Dark Souls and Dark Souls isn't a bad game apart from a fairly rushed engame (which didn't dip in quality because of the re-used assets, the fact that the general development had to be rushed by that point did).

Bloodborne is a very different game if you're the kind of person who plays these games a lot, and Scholar of the First Sin is just a current gen version of DS2.
Wasn't there evidence that ds3 has been in development since before ds2? And that's why it wasn't directed by Miyazaki?
Wasn't there evidence that ds3 has been in development since before ds2? And that's why it wasn't directed by Miyazaki?
They started prototyping on DS3 1 year before DS2 released, so yeah, basically.
Ornifex please. I really hope they mention Eleum Loyce in DS3, as well as what they did to restrain the Chaos from spreading. That place was by far my favorite in DS2.
Eleum Loyce felt like a really good end to a trilogy of story DLC. You got Chaos returning, you find out that not all of the Manus shards are total monsters, and you get one of the best set ups and execution for a boss fight EVER! Loved the music in it too.
Now let's hope they don't pull a DaS2 and gimp the graphics engine to hell and back between this demo and the final release.
I'm expecting a tiny downgrade, but as long as they keep it comparable to Bloodborne by not removing the lighting system that the atmosphere is designed around, we'll be okay. Dark Souls 2 was basically like playing Half Life 2 with fullbright maps [t]http://i39.tinypic.com/16kq4xi.jpg[/t]

So are DS games good games for playing with friends? Do they have any sort of cooperative or Diablo-type parties?
Do they have any sort of cooperative or Diablo-type parties?
I wish. There is coop, but grouping and playing through the whole game with one specific player is really finicky.
I wish. There is coop, but grouping and playing through the whole game with one specific player is really finicky.
In DaS 2 it was fucking infuriating because since I had played for a little longer than my friend, I couldn't coop with him because my soul memory was too high. The requirements for coop were also not very well explained in-game, do mind this was way before Agape Ring. That said, DaS 1 didn't explain it a whole lot either. I found it to be easier in DaS 1 after gfwl, because summon requirements were only based on your soul level, which you had more control over.
So are DS games good games for playing with friends? Do they have any sort of cooperative or Diablo-type parties?
In Dark Souls you have to place a summon sign in an out of the way place and tell your friend to find it. In Dark Souls 2 you need the Name-Engraved Ring which limits your visible signs to people who select the same name. The coop in Dark Souls was never designed for friends to play through the game together. The idea is that strangers will reach out to help each other before parting ways and possibly never interacting again.
In my experience coop with a friend in DS2 is fairly pain free as long as you both have the Name Engraved Ring. In DS it's more of a hassle.
Yeah this is a concern I have. Really comes off as milking the cow dry. And I'm honestly not sure how many more "souls" games I can take so soon after another when the first Dark Souls already almost perfected it. Getting a small case of "been there, done that". Not quite worn out but noticeably more so. At least Bloodborne was good and that was pretty new. But really even still the gameplay was almost exactly like souls but with small tweaks and changes. That said I wouldn't mind them doing something like Bloodborne again - clearly the exact same style of game but totally different in style/world/themes. Feels a lot fresher than just doing direct sequels.
I dunno, they still have a lot of potential, the first 2 souls games seemed focused on western-style environments like castles and ruined cities. I think it would be interesting to see a more expansive world, maybe some classical Greek, Roman, or Persian areas. Would be a nice change of scenery to fight crazy monsters in a desert or ruined pantheon.
My little brother beat the first two games with the keyboard only, I beat 1 and watched 2. I'm gonna be buying this for us because he will carry me.
Will DS3 have a colour palette that isn't orange and brown?
