MGR isn't fun? Raiden swings super fast, very little weight to the main combat, the game is still fun. Bayonetta, the combat is super fast and the game is still fun?
Some of the most highly rated action games made have super fast swings and still manage to be very good games, the combat doesn't have to be slow with lots of weight to be fun, a game with huge sword, with fast combat could be made and would be fun. You can't just dismiss the whole idea based on fuck all.
there's still weight to those games, though rather than having it in weapons it's in the enemies and the player character, they feel as heavy as they look and it's super satisfying.
it also helps that when you hit in those games it has a powerful impact, making it feel like your weapons are still heavy despite you swinging them as if they were not.

Exactly, its not as if guts swinging he sword around like a twig means the combat has to be automatically bad.

there are weight to those games (especially with heavy attacks)
and bayonetta is just okay. i played both of them on wiiu. it's fine. i don't get why it's ADORED though.

yeah but the dragonslayer is in no way comparable with raidens sword, you can't expect them to feel the same
Exactly, its not as if guts swinging he sword around like a twig means the combat has to be automatically bad.
it doesn't, but if the combat as a whole feels weightless/effortless, then that's when it's not very great
Exactly, its not as if guts swinging he sword around like a twig means the combat has to be automatically bad.
but this new gameplay looks like an excellent balance. it's still very fast, makes a huge impact on enemies, and very clearly has some momentum in the swings (which is the reason dark souls ultra greatswords feel so good).
it's a balance/variety thing
devs just think there are other characters on the roster more suited to high attack speeds

Yeah there's weight, but not a huge amount. And to be clear I mean the weight of the player characters animations, there's more than one way to convey the game's combat feel like how the mobs react to the player character, while guts can move quickly it doesn't mean that there's no weight to the combat. The fact that he swings his sword fast doesn't make all of the combat weightless.
Not the same ofc, but you can't discount that its possible to have a game with a large sword that also has fast combat.

Yeah I agree.

Just because the game looks good doesn't discount what I saying, it's possible to have the game look good and still be true to the source material at the same time, what your saying doesn't discount that.

That's fair enough as well, maybe my points would be more vaild if it was a game with only one playable character. That said though I do think there is merit to what I think, the combat could still be more like it's depicted in the manga.
Also it's not as if characters have to be balanced against each other, in the manga there are people who are clearly stronger and weaker than each other. It's not like Caska, a skilled sword women would be able to match the sheer power of Zodd or Guts. (if Zodd or Caska are playable)

Making Guts as true to the lore as possible would be a bad decision because he'd simply overpower everything and there'd be no challenge. Not to mention some of the attacks in that teaser are blatantly power moves.
Primigenes why are you complaining the new game is too slow when the game play shown is already faster than the PS2 game you're talking about?
I watched the first ep of the show, got put off by the animation, read the manga, then watched the anime again but loved it. Then read the manga two or three more times. I love the hell out of it.

Skull Knight looks a little weird, but everything else looks rad as fuck.

Fucking ready to carve some shit up. Never played a Berserk game before, hope they nail the feeling of swinging around an object that you really shouldn't be able to swing around
I wonder if they're going to use an equipment system like in the other musou games. The whole gang doesn't really use anything else besides their iconic weapons.

If anything I think it'll probably be like in Pirate Warriors 3, [sp]and maybe 1 and 2 but I never played those[/sp]
No weapons just coins to upgrade your guy with.

Could try something similar to Hyrule warriors and have each character have a couple weapons with totally different movesets.

Pirate Warriors 1 and 2 were kinda similar but were more focused on matching coins of the same category, rather than fetching certain coins to boost certain attributes.
Prefer if they just kept one weapon but had different selectable movesets. They've said we get to play as Guts up until the end of Millenium and that his fighting style changes appropriately but whether that means costumes affect moves or we get different character variations I don't know. Additionally they didn't say anything about what modes would be available.
Hopefully there's just version of each character throughout their arcs for some kind of free mode and they use the appropriate weapon but their style and movesets change.
so will this be a story driven game?
so will this be a story driven game?
The story mode will follow the arcs up until Millennium Falcon. As for other modes they haven't announced anything else yet.

The recent Arslan: The Warriors of Legend game had a system kinda like that. Each character in that game had their own sets of weapons they could switch to at any time on the battlefield, but you could also change up the movesets of each individual weapon as well. For a game based off a really niche anime, they put some good thought into how weapons work, to make up for the small weapon variety.
so will this be a story driven game?
Seems to be. They said the story will start at the beginning of the Golden Age arc and end off at the end of the Millennium Falcon arc.
so there will be cut sences and character development?
so there will be cut sences and character development?
depends on how faithful they are to the manga, they'll probably abridge at least some of it so it doesn't go on for too long.
i hope it goes forever

this pre-order outfit is pretty much the epitome of bad taste
legit hoping this causes outcry resulting in removal
i wonder how kentaro feels about that
Little more gameplay. Tho no new characters shown yet.

Considering the shittiness of the new anime this looks pretty good.
Speaking of playable characters, here's another one.
