It's not so much the internet as it is board culture, which is definitely not common knowledge, I wouldn't blame anybody I know for not knowing inside terminology.

Seems like whenever technology/internet is involved you're allowed to be as irresponsible as shit unless you're trying to do something positive.

Doing research is optional, leaking/selling/spying on people's private information isn't a big deal, tricking kids into gambling is okay, etc.
