i just buy 7 dollar earphones from wal mart
Desktop speakers master race
if i could get like a shell of beats and stuff whatever components into them, i'd be set cause i really like how they look and how solid of a design they are, but i HATE the sound. it's just 90% bass to cover up the crap underneath.
The guy in the video puts it in a lot nicer terms than I would have put it. Him: "If you're looking for a great unboxing experience, a fashion statement, and great marketing, go with Beats!" Me: "HAHAHA you spent most of your money on a fad and its packaging asswipe!"
I just use a pair of $20 skullcandys and they work perfectly fine.
I don't believe this one bit. Maybe I'm too biased but fuck their initial release wasn't the best of starts.
Beats is on the way to becoming a status symbol (and to a degree it already is). That's the whole point. Everything he mentions in the video regarding margins and advertising is completely true, because that's how business works and that's how Beats' and Apple's business models work. It's not like he made up some specific things about what they do, this is an everyday reality in business and in advertising, regardless of the company. This isn't even an argument, it's a reality you can investigate yourself.
I just use a pair of $20 skullcandys and they work perfectly fine.
There's a difference between working and sounding good. Some people don't care about that, others spend ~£300 on sound cards and headphones and amplifiers.
Audio quality isn't the only problem Beats have. I bought a pair a few years ago and that plastic that's used in the headband part is complete shit. It snapped in half when the cable got caught in my car door one day.
I have always thought the AIAIAI TMA-1 Studios have nicer packaging, a nicer look, and sound leagues better than beats, I personally use the dj variant for general listening/dj monitoring and they are fantastic. Audio technica ath-m50 looks great imo. [t]http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/resource_library/product_images/3d600fac44cca298/ath_m50s_1.jpg[/t]

The pallet they came on was not roughly handled or anything and the boxes were in such good shape that they ended up on the floor only to be returned by customers. It was a constant problem for us when we received a shipment that we had to start opening random boxes when the pallet arrived to hopefully find any broken pairs. I remember the sales rep they had come up to us to help us with our sales pitch and when he was trying to assure of of the pristine sound quality they had he couldn't keep a straight face. On top of that a lot of the time we would walk around with a demo pair around our necks so that if people wanted to test them out they could. On 60% of the people who tried them you could see their faces turn to confusion when they put them on because at that price range you expect quite the difference in sound. The only success we had selling them was when kids or teenagers would come in and blindly defend their quality. As somewhat of an audiophile it sucked to have to sell those headphones and lie about how good they sound. But at the end of the day it was my job and I did it without prejudice and if you can't do that then you shouldn't work in retail.
can they actually force you to say that you like them?
Of course not, you can try and be sneaky about it but in big retail stores it is common to get a mystery shopper to make sure you are doing your job right and if you go mouthing off about a product and they report your sale then that can end badly. At the end of the day it's just easier to lie, either way I couldn't care less about the stupid people I sold them to anyways. If they had done more research then they wouldn't be buying beats. When people come into a store they have a pretty good idea of what they want to get and trying to persuade them otherwise barely ever works.
Sennheiser master race. Of the tons of headphones i've tried in stores over the years, the Sennheisers always win. I'm using HD598 right now and it sounds/feels incredible. I often forget i'm even wearing headphones, even when it's been hours.
I just use the heaphones that you get for free on airplanes
I had to pay $1.50 for mine. :(
I can't recommend V-Moda headphones enough, amazing sound quality and they also have pretty nice packaging, and their Crossfade LP headphones cost 100 dollars less than your average beats headphone [t]http://www.technologytell.com/hometech/files/2013/02/V-Moda-M-100-and-LP-packaging1.jpg[/t] the headphones are sexy as hell too, and they come with a 6 foot cable, one 4 foot cable with an iDevice controller integrated, and a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter [t]http://www.djvibe.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2-LP2_on_case_cropped_web.jpg[/t]

I have the audio technica ATH-M30s and they've lasted me a while and have great quality sound. In addition, my uncle is in Bose quality control and he's told me that they're working on getting they're marketing up and their look more streamlined, I've already heard some ads on spotify. But we'll see how that plays out in the next few years.
Cost about 150 dollars to make??? How about fucking. 14. Bux.

I recently got a pair of M50x's the blue edition. Really fucking uncomfortable, then I found out they suck with glasses so I put my glasses ontop of them, helped a bit but still hurt a lot after a few hours. Certainly more Bassy than my Denon AH-D2000's.
Can anyone recommend some good, reasonably priced in ear headphones? My broken HTC One ones were amazing with good clear bass, haven't heard anything like them.
