I used to have some Aerial7 Tanks, which for $100 where pretty damn good. Then I got me a pair of V-Moda M-100:

imma buy fancyass headphones and listen to 'em in ma ifone

Been loving these. Sound fantastic, feel fantastic, and they don't look like shit. Having an actual sound card with an equalizer makes a huge difference, though.
Siberia V2 FYI.
I went through three pairs of these :v:
one I broke by throwing against a wall, another had the mic stop working and a third the righthand speaker was dead unless you twisted the wire a certain way
those last two broke in the space of about a year
hella comfy though
who is that even marketed to like seriously what
Teenagers with rich parents
DT770s are amazingly comfy, and they sound great. Might not be the most accurate headphones, but I love them.
Beyer Dynamic does have a tendency to produce headphones that aren't very neutral, but my 770s emphasize the sounds I want to hear for some uses. Worth it for me, but this is definitely something to keep in mind if anyone here is looking for a good pair of headphones.
Buy what you can afford.
Buy what is comfortable.
Buy something that sounds the way you want it.
I have these, got them for half price around christmas last year. Use them for music and gaming and find them to be pretty solid

$20 will get you these tanks with fairly good quality sound:

I had these about three years ago, shame they died but they were not bad.
Recently i bought the Sennheiser HD201.

Pretty cheap, confortable and my big ears fits inside without any problem. Also they sound good.
i just use apple in-ears when i'm out and they sound pretty good imo
[t]http://prmodz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/ap1.jpg[/t]
otherwise i just listen to music on speakers at home so there's really no need for me to have on-ear headphones
Get a $20 pair of Sennheisers and call it a day. I'll never understand the appeal of Beats headphones and yes, I've used them and they're good, but extremely overpriced.

That's really ugly looking.
It really is nice to be able to have multiple pair of cans to be able to truly hear differences between them. I use Sony MDR-V6s on the go because of the isolation and they are clearly more portable then most higher end headphones (not to mention built like a fucking tank), and I still have my old pair of Sennheiser 595s for use on my computer which sound much better, but leak a shitload of sound and long cord make it impossible to use outside.
I should probably replace my Sennheisers with Beyerdynamics, they lasted me awhile, but the build quality on these are undoubtedly questionable.
And I honestly see like 5 pairs of Beats a day at the very least around my campus in college whenever I walk around, It's been pretty obvious for a long time now that Beats were never about the sound.
I cheaped out and got a Sennheiser 280 pro, but I'll be damned if this thing doesn't sound awesome.
i would prefer a company use minmal packaging rather than costly packaging. i only unbox something once and don't particularly care about the experience as long as the product gets to my hands in one piece
the box for my ad900x' was ridiculous. had a little velcro-held window flap and everything
Definitely not. In-Ears do the job, but in my experience you really need a good pair of over-ear headphones to get the highest quality sound. They take advantage of your full ear, rather than just the canal, and the larger drivers produce more accurate sound.
maybe there is something i dont understand about audio but I don't see how you can get more 'acurate' than the full audio spectrum. in ears can do lower bass notes without breaking a sweat and sound great.

Full audio spectrum =! Flat response curve
I don't get why people use 'unboxing experience' as a pro or con. You only take it out of the box once (maybe a few times more if you use the box to move or some shit i dunno).
For sure, but when you buy something new and the packaging is nice it feels like you spent your money well. I guess it's kind of a luxury, but again the keyword here is perceived value.
What earbuds would you guys suggest?
All the ones I've found sounded like shit unless they were really crammed in my ear, and then they'd just slip out on their own while I'm moving.
if only they made headphones that look kind of like Beats but weren't absolute shite
if only they made headphones that look kind of like Beats but weren't absolute shite
Personally I hate the glossy plastic look that most beats have.

These look pretty similar in my opinion.
explain
A headphone or speaker might be able to reproduce all frequencies within the audible spectrum, but there will always be some sort of imbalance to how loud one frequency is compared to another. A "studio monitor" grade headphone/speaker is made to get as close to a "flat" response curve as possible.
Which means it aims to avoid a bias towards the bass for example, so you can get a natural "accurate" sound which is as close to the original sound as possible.
Think of it like a built-in equalizer that you want to avoid.
Here's a response curve of the m50's as an example.

I'm immensely happy with my Beyerdynamic DT990, highly recommended. I will never go near beats.
Sennheiser Px100-II here. It got banged up and got recabled, but it still sounds great and is very, VERY portable. Although long-term use (>4hrs) might be a bit clampy on your top part of the head (I solved it with a napkin).
Still, any recommendations for a cheap, full-size headphones with decent sound? ($50-ish)

These have served me fine for at least a year, and costed little
The sony ones doing the recommendation rounds in this thread are pretty good too for low cost
Mine make me look absolutely fucking retarded, but I only use them in my room so I don't care. :v:

[sp]Pictured: Not me, and not my pair. Those are XB1000s, a step up from my 700s. The sound is excellent (in my opinion), but they're pricey, look silly, and the leather that rests on the ear wears out after about 6-12 months and will flake off.[/sp]
the first google image result killed me a little

I think that depends - the DT770 Pros aren't all that accurate, but that doesn't mean you want to avoid them. It all depends on what you listen to, and how you want your music to sound.
Yeah I should have made it a bit more clear, I meant more in the case of studio monitors
I should really get some good headphones. The last pair of headphones I bought was over 5 years ago. Sennheiser HD 205.
Headphones are just so expensive :(
I can't recommend V-Moda headphones enough, amazing sound quality and they also have pretty nice packaging, and their Crossfade LP headphones cost 100 dollars less than your average beats headphone

the headphones are sexy as hell too, and they come with a 6 foot cable, one 4 foot cable with an iDevice controller integrated, and a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter

V-MODAs are actually pretty great, but you do pay for the brand, packaging and accessories. I got the LP1s for $65 (lightly used) but I had to spend $20 for the XL earpads or else my ears would be up against the speaker grille. The build quality is great, but they're heavy. The mids are a bit scooped and the bass is a little loose, but nothing major. Also you have to crank the volume to help the mids and treble
The LP2s however are fucking fantastic in every way

Depends how long they last, and good headphones last way longer than your expensive phone or computer.
