While a first-person perspective in a 3D world would provide a more immersive experience, at the same time, Zomboid is trying to juggle literally everything else to make an immersive and scary zombie game.
I'll take 2D isometric with spot-on gameplay any day over 3D first-person with shit gameplay.

Wasn't me who described it.

I'd take 2D game with spot on gameplay over 3D game with shit gameplay. Not sure if you're making any point.
I did like the sprinting zombie that was still partly human. You don't really see that in zombie games.
Those night time hunters are fucking stupid though. Why do they have mandibles? They look like they came out of Blade II.
it looks like they copy-pasted mirror's edge's parkour moves
they even use the exact same animations
dice copyrighted the entire act of free running
This will probably suffer from the same flaws as Dead Island, which is a shame because the parkour shit and being able to dropkick zombies is pretty neat.

dead island had a fuckton of flaws, but it was still fun as hell.
there's plenty of mediocre games out there that are still fun as hell, like far cry 2 or resident evil
First it was FPS Deathmatch Arena games, then it was WW2 games, after that was "modern combat shooters", and now we're at Zombie Apocolypse Survival games."

Remember the days where most first-person shooters were called Doom clones?
The trailer looked heavily scripted. Sadly, the best thing about this game will probably be the concept.

Some of the flaws got in the way of the overall experience though, the stiff controls, quickly draining stamina, and quick weapon degradation was a real buzz kill. Plus how specials worked was kinda shitty.
They're most likely going to do away with that special meter for this, and they MIGHT make stamina more generous, but I doubt they'll smoothen the controls up.
However I'll give them credit for night sense, THAT'S how you do a heightened sense of awareness, rather than night vision that lets you see through walls.
that is not how you climb a pole
i loved dead island and riptide, so dead island with parkour is a-ok in my book.
I just want a huge open world zombie game with about 4-player co-op that is really truly about survival instead of slaughtering zombies. With a great soundtrack and a sort of ambient gloomy setting. A bit like the travelling bits in 28 days later.
Reminds me of Far Cry 3
Since when can you snap a zombies neck?
Hi is this the new dead island trailer?
Since when can you snap a zombies neck?
Since video games.
jesus christ did you see how he slid down that pole
it was made of wood, and I imagine it had nails in it.
can you imagine how much that would hurt?
You guys whine about the stupidiest things. It's hard to say but this looks incredibly good for pre-alpha footage.
05:05 he wasn't anywhere near the zombie and it's sent flying back into the spikes.
no fun allowed, not even in pre-alpha status.
drop the boring daytime Dead Island clone and more of that actual horror of running from zombies in the nighttime gameplay
What is with this motherfuckers extendo-arms, he's smacking zombies that are not even a meter in range of his weapon

no fun allowed, game is not realistic enough abondon life.
*complains about bug*
NO FUN ALLOWED!
Because playing in a completely bug filled broken game is so fucking fun
This honestly looks way better than Dead Island. I like how weapons actually have an impact when you hit something, in which the weapon stops swinging mid-animation to implicate that. Unlike Dead Island where you just wave weapons left and right constantly.
This looks cool but it isn't gameplay.
edit:
You guys don't distinguish gameplay from scripted marketing video that is supposed to look like gameplay. It's not on Watch Dogs level but still.
Looks really good.
Although it would be cool if they'd include a mode that'd let the player drop the whole immunity crap.
Same as I've thought with Dead Rising. Like having something where the zombies are plentiful and not too hard to kill, but it only takes one slip.
Walking in that home, looking for the source of the crying and getting bit due to failing to notice the corpse on the ground should end up with the main character cursing his fate. Followed by a possibly slow death.
Instead of reacting as if getting bit by a mosquito to getting a piece of flesh ripped out of his leg.
