The movie was always going to have no sound. A soundless trailer wouldn't really work, they need to sell the thing.
I think it would've been a lot better without sound actually. Really doesn't help that they used loud as fuck explosion sounds which makes it seem overdramatic as hell.
In a movie like this one, I believe an ending which had "understanding" instead of sadness would fit the best. An ending where either character would reflect upon the sight of the planet before him/her has he/she drifted into space, or fell towards earth. Something similar to the speech "pale blue dot", could go through their minds. And they'd have a smile upon their face as they went towards their doom.
AFAIK (don't quote me on this), astronauts are trained to remain very calm in these kinds of situations, and even if the situation leads to a 100% chance of death, the astronaut would still "record" important data and whatnot's that could be useful for NASA and space exploration all-together. Kind of like "Yeah, even though our situation is fucked, we've noticed that..."
Yeah, I was thinking that too and some appreciation of cosmic beauty and the acceptance of death would go nicely. The little comment on the end of my post wasn't really a thing directed to your idea but just my opinion that random endings that come from nowhere just don't work anywhere but with a heavy topic of being isolated in space by yourself with some other astronaut should already have a set tone, style and 'ending' for it and instead, the style of the film should be the more stronger focus instead of an extremely complex plot dealing with how to save Bullock and an Ex-Batman in space.
I wrote a short story on this sort of thing a few months back:

Interesting to see a movie on something like this, I bet they'll go with a deus ex machina ending.
Honestly though, how can you turn someone trapped in orbit/drifting into space/burning up into a 1.5 hour feature film? The actors would have to play it fucking perfectly to keep the audience engaged the whole time and even then I doubt it'd be that interesting.
In theory the force needed to push her out of Earth orbit is much less than what's needed to put her as well as a spacecraft out of Earth orbit.
She would have had to be thrown at about 10.7 km/s for that to force her out of earth orbit.

The escape velocity? What about if she's knocked retrograde so her orbit is lowered? Would it take less force?

That looked pretty convincingly normal to Earth's surface.

And yes that would almost certainly take delta v. They're in low earth orbit.
Something extremely improbable happening in the current situation, leading to a good ending.
I remember as a kid, watching Disney movies, this "miracle" kept on happening. It looks like the protagonist is just about to lose, hope is very low. But then all of a sudden "something" incredible happens in the last minute, turning the tide of the entire situation within a heartbeat. This ofcourse leads to the protagonists victory/survival.
In this movie, I'm guessing that one of them will die, while the other will survive. Even though the chance of survival in that scenario is basically null.
These are all speculations though, and I'm hoping they are wrong.
those are called deus ex machinas not disney miracles.

I know what a deus ex machina is. I'm just fond of using the synonym "disney miracle" that's constantly used around my parts.

I'm sorry but this just looks terrible.
According to the plot synopsis they lose all communication with Earth so an action movie rescue mission seems unlikely. I'll be surprised if the whole thing isn't set in space, and we never see the ground except maybe at the start or end
The idea of drifting off into space like that at the end of the trailer is terrifying for me.
May have to see it to face all my fears about dying slowly in space
I think shes gonna get picked up by aliens.
Just like last thread. I'm calling that one of them survives due to a Disney miracle
This was made by the guy who did Children of Men It won't be anywhere near as shitty as that I assure you

I have more hope in this movie now.
If this film doesn't end with one of them surfboarding down to earth on a piece of debris I will be mad.
I have more hope in this movie now.
Also, if my memory serves me correctly, it will have a 17 minute long shot. Since this is the same guy who did Children of Men, which had a very well done 7.5 minute shot and several other shots over a minute long, I think he can pull it off.
Hell, this trailer itself is all one shot.

hmm. Gonna have to look into this.
Space is fucking scary.

That was significantly more entertaining than I imagined it would be. The music just sold it so well.
I'm still wondering how they're gonna pull off a 90+ minute movie if the entire plot is them floating in space. There has to be more to the plot than this.
That is one of my worst fucking nightmares, that last shot.
think you have a bigger problem than just her getting lost, the entire space station and shuttle were destroyed leaving a field of debris that no space craft will ever be able to enter.

i always imagined a trophy system to shoot down any space debris that get close to any ships.
