I don't really know how to feel about this.
Looks shite.
What a vague trailer.
Any word on what the gameplay will be like?
zombie FPS
I'll definitely wear my Kanye t-shirt and Kanye jeans while I play this Kanye game and listen to some Kanye songs!
A lot of his fans honestly remind me of a cult.
And a lot of haters of him
(I.E: you)
remind me a lot of kids who go and shop at hot topic and like to hate on famous people and rap music because "it's too hip!!!!"
sweet gesture, probably going to be a terrible game though. would be nice if he sent profits to some sort of charity for women issues or medical problems.
no idea what the game play will be like but personally i really like the look of the art style and you know the sound track is gonna be good
There's way more to a song than how the vocals sound.
Absolutely, and this one is nothing but an autotuned mess.

so you're trying to troll the thread then
I love kanye, and im all for people having their own opinions and whatever but militant kanye haters always give me the impression that the only music they listen to consists of 3 middle aged white guys playing guitar while shouting "DAD ROCK"
[editline]16th June 2016[/editline]
Chief example
Nah man, I just honestly don't see the appeal of his music. I'm deep into hip-hop and his stuff has never come across as anything but generic as fuck. You can label me any way you want, but IMO his talent is nowhere near as immense as most of his fans like to believe. I know he's THE thing in rap, but I really don't see why. Dozens and dozens of people before him have done what he does, and done it better but have faded into obscurity.
Kanye West makes a game. Big fucking deal. If it was anyone else you'd label it as just another artsy, pretentious, indie fuckabout, but because it's him, the God, Kanye West HIMSELF, people are gonna go crazy about it. Gimme a break.

How is calling a song 'an autotuned mess' trolling the thread if you don't mind explaining to me?

How DARE they have a hobby!
As for the game, it's supposedly based of "Only One", a song in the point of view of Kanye's deceased mom.

Which by the way is a fucking beautiful song.
Erm, I'm sorry but did we listen to the same song?
I get music is subjective but good god this is fucking trash. His voice was garbled up the whole time and it didn't even flow well.

If there's one person in hip-hop right now to be excited about having a hand in making a game, it's Kanye. He's a gifted motherfucker who puts his all into his work. I mean, look at this shit-

This is all from his Yeezus tour. Did he need to rap on top of the matterhorn, and have Jesus come out to absolve him of his sins mid-set? Nah, but he did, because he had a vision. This tour could've been him and his DJ going through the motions but instead we got something more.
Now take a look at Runaway, Kanye's short film-

You can remove the "rapper" label, the dude's still a visionary who's constantly and consistently putting 100% into everything he does. His music, his clothes, his videos, his live shows, and you bet your ass the game dedicated to his mom. At the absolute worst it's going to be a bad game that plays like shit, but you're almost guaranteed it's going to sound great, and have some real passion behind it.
Can't argue with Kanye fans, anyone with an unfavorable opinion of Yeezus their lord and savior is immediately flocked on and attacked, cult of personality type shit. Dude is clearly unique and dedicated to his works but that doesn't make his works objectively good.
Aside from that his publicity stunts are trashy as hell, and pirating music software after selling millions of albums is fucked. I dunno much about his game, if it makes him feel better good for him, sad what happened to his mom.

I don't care for kanye stuff at all but "omg here comes the [X] defense force" and "you can't argue with [X] fans they're too blind to see the faults in [X]" in a thread about the topic is the most bullshit way to try invalidating others' opinions (often the locals who are in the thread because they enjoy the thing) by making them out to be fanatics.
give it a rest you babies
everyone just needs to stop talking about kanye
this thread is really about e3 anyway
Forgot to mention this was the same trailer from Madison square garden. He played the trailer three times in a row.
everyone just needs to stop talking about kanye

but if you know kanye you know that it's always about him!
idk bout ya'll but now I wanna listen to dark twisted fantasy again
now that shit was a masterpiece to me tbh
I'll be sure to keep an eye on the game, kanye's work is always worth giving a listen (or playing in this case)
I don't really care about people that hate him hard cuz I just assume they are crusty old ugly white dudes, but if you say you're ~deep~ into rap and think shit like Kanye was generic? oh boy lmao
You think it was easy for people to go from Dre g-funk rap, and later 50 cent, to a guy that originally started out rapping about dropping out of school, minimum wage, making a pop rap song called jesus walks that was about religious beliefs, all while wearing shit like pink polos and backpacks, is generic?
Half of his albums have influenced the entire genre of rap. If college dropout hadn't have been such a hit we'd have been on g-funk west coast shit and small time pop gangster new york stuff (see: get rich or die tryin) still for a while and people trying to emulate that style to get mainstream. We wouldn't have many artists today that you here on the radio if 808's hadn't have came out, emphasizing slower, more bassy autotune melodic music.
I don't call myself a huge fan of lil wayne, and even eminem, but both had their spotlights that have created waves on their own that I can respect. I absolute fucking DESPISE 90% of eminem fans but I will still respect him because he basically transcended hip hop into a area of "i don't like rap but I'll sure buy the new eminem cd!"
Not that you're suggesting otherwise, but G-Funk had some of the funkiest beats of all time. I miss those grainy breaks, but the obligatory gangster shit had to go.
And while I couldn't stand that song about his mom, I can't imagine why people go so far as to say that he's not talented or creative. I don't think that people should praise his music so highly nor should they say he's a terrible musician and a terrible person. I think that people shouldn't be taking people like that and transform them into untouchable deities nor the scum of the earth.
And when people see stuff like this, I don't know why they can't just see that it's a game about his mom. The guy is just dedicating stuff to his mom. You have to be a special person to immediately suggest that he's just trying to profit off of a corpse - that's something so incredibly disgusting to say about someone just because you're not into their music. And I can't understand why people feel offended when people claim that he's changed rap, because that's an undeniable fact whether or not you think his influences are good or bad.
I'm not fond of most of his music and I don't think that he's what I would define as one of the greatest rappers, but he's still involved and caused rap to change directions and that in itself is something to appreciate. You're not losing any personal integrity for saying that.
Damn I didn't know people could get this upset about a single person who isn't a murderer or rapist or whatever

nah screw that, g-funk for life baybeee
[editline]18th June 2016[/editline]
every time there's a kanye thread we end up coming to the conclusion that regardless of taste he's been objectively influential on the genre
is it ok to just have a middling opinion on kanye's music? because all i ever see is people who love him and people who hate him
is it ok to just have a middling opinion on kanye's music? because all i ever see is people who love him and people who hate him
I was just talking to people about it, and I think it's just a simple matter of the people with the most extreme opinions generally being the loudest and plenty. People who are indifferent to Kanye West aren't really going to remark about it as often as the fervent lovers or zealous haters.
Can't argue with Kanye fans, anyone with an unfavorable opinion of Yeezus their lord and savior is immediately flocked on and attacked, cult of personality type shit. Dude is clearly unique and dedicated to his works but that doesn't make his works objectively good.

Do you tell everyone with a different opinion on someone that their in a cult of personality? There is objective value to his work as it's furthered the industry and people's willingness to explore new styles and production even if you dislike the subjective sound of his music.
I don't want to say anything about Kanye's music in general, but honestly I can't help but judge him a bit for this video:

Yeah, he doesn't need to be a great singer, but it downright sounds like he's lacking musicality here. His rap may be great, and he might be great at producing music, but seriously fuck me that was bad.

This seems more like he's just trying to have fun with starting the show. It's still bad, but I don't think he meant for it to be a showoff of his skills.

Then the motherfucker uses autotune and people bitch at him for that there's no winning
Then the motherfucker uses autotune and people bitch at him for that there's no winning
Or he could learn to sing passably? It's not impossible, and it's not like it's a useless skill for the guy. It's part of his job.
Then the motherfucker uses autotune and people bitch at him for that there's no winning
Autotune isn't the worst thing ever - hell it's even a great tool to reach unrealistic levels of perfection that you might want in certain pieces. I just think that the way that Kanye does it with setting it to max got old super fast and was never an effect I was fond of, and unrelated to Kanye I think that people who are using autotune extensively shouldn't be going around pretending like they know how to sing.
I don't think he should be impugned for using his robotic autotune effect live.
Or he could learn to sing passably? It's not impossible, and it's not like it's a useless skill for the guy. It's part of his job.
The singer for the Flaming Lips is terrible, and I love The Flaming Lips. Same with The Strokes. Same with Nirvana. Same with a lot of bands. "Passably" is super subjective and sometimes singing doesn't need to be at that caliber that people generally demand.
Like I said, it sounded pretty bad but I wasn't really looking for perfection - it seemed like he was just trying to have fun and get the crowd pumped.
And this is the kind of shit I'm talking about in general - people shouldn't be so harsh on the guy, but people shouldn't be saying he's a musical saint either. He's just a guy that fucks around with music, and people should appreciate that he fucks around in a genre of consistent copy-catting and stagnancy. That's really it.
Not really a part of his job. Dudes not even a singer
He literally just sung that because he was at Glastonbury to get the crowd pumped. Like Queens a british band and its the UK
The dude already knows and has stated before that he can't sing. Hell Kanye himself personally thinks he teeters on the side of being the worst singer.
And Kanye has sung passably before
He normally only sings when he's trying to be emotional. For example this song or the entire album where all this autotune shit came from.
I don't even know why people bring up that Glastonbury video. Besides everyone already knows Kanye can't sing the big picture is that he's not even trying to sing. He's using a popular song to hype the audience by having them sing it.
Even if he just sings "sometimes", why not invest some energy into being somewhat good at it? He's a multi-millionaire, he can probably afford a few classes. It's not to make this a big point about him just being "crap" or "awful", but there are amateurs out there that both sing and play multiple instruments well. Fair enough if he doesn't want to, but yeah I don't really know where I'm going with this so whatever.
