This looks like Mega Shit
I don't think I'll ever be drunk enough to watch whatever this movie becomes. EDIT: Is it a show? I'm mega-confused.
It's a Mega Man CGI cartoon done by Man at Arms Entertainment, the studio that kicked off the Ben 10 franchise. Capcom clearly wants to revive interest in the blue bomber by any means necessary, despite putting the Archie comics series on infinite hiatus in such a way that even the writer capped off the story in a way that he knew wouldn't be getting revived. The problem with the cartoon however is that it's trying to go the Sonic Boom route of an alternate continuity with recognizable factors but a new approach. Mega Man, or Mega / Rock depending on which game and region you played with and all, is now Aki Light, a robot school kid trying to live a normal life before transforming into Mega Man to save the day. He's also got a Mega-Mini inside him for.. some reason. Info said characters like Rush and such would be appearing, but then they also said that the series was going to focus on the franchise's "memorable comedy" (???). so yeah it's a comedy cartoon with action, because we aren't absolutely fucking flooded with those nowadays
Sonic Boom's (cartoon) pretty good, but like you mentioned, franchise's "memorable comedy" (???). What. I'd say give this show a chance? Like, the first episode (or the pilot) better make one hell of an impression. Also can get like, X series stuff, please? I'm not asking something impossible like progressing the timeline or anything (post-ZX)...
"memorable comedy"
I'm laughing really hard rn, so I'd say it is working as intended, I guess. :v: [editline]25th March 2017[/editline] Holy shit man whoever the hell had the idea to turn megaman into ben10 really needs to cease to exist, like, just vanish into thin air.

Sonic is still Sonic, he's just more snarky and arrogant than normal. They got flanderized but aren't so fucked up so as to barely resemble who or what they are (ironically Amy is perhaps the furthest departure), and they didn't add too many gimmicks on that fans of the main continuity wouldn't be able to recognize what the fuck the show is. While Mega Man could transform into his armor, it was always a quick thing and not really a defining part of his character. He's been renamed, he's been restructured into a school student (arguably taken from pre-existing comics and manga but now a primary trait focus compared to Light just sending his kids to school). Knowing modern trends, he's likely gonna be a modern snarky yet heroic young boy hero like a mix of Ben 10 with Astro Boy; it's a guesstimate but not likely an unsafe bet. Astro Boy-inspired origins aside for Mega Man as a whole, that's already a potentially completely different interpretation of the character, but the fucking Mega-Mini in his head doesn't help either and probably exists solely for the sake of humor and merchandising. If he wasn't called Mega Man, he'd legitimately seem like some sort of kid-oriented Max Steel ripoff or something, and the teaser alone slaps MEGA into forced catchphrases all over the place to say, "OH YEAH THIS IS MEGA MAN." I guess i'm probably being too harsh for a bare minimal first impression, but I am a pretty bitter Mega Man fanboy.
MEGANIZE ME
MEGANIZE ME
how does a cartoon adaptation from the 90's that has a dipshit of a protagonist have better catchphrases compared to this noodle limbed fuck and be somewhat more accurate to boot
I want to die.
but then they also said that the series was going to focus on the franchise's "memorable comedy" (???).
Apparently Capcom doesn't know shit about their own franchises now a days. As evident by a few years ago stating that mobile(and japan)only Breath Of Fire 6 was going to focus on the franchise's "solid multiplayer". Breath Of Fire has been a series of JRPGs and has NEVER had anything close to multiplayer. I imagine next there will be a Saturday Night Slam Masters(Street Fighter II loosely mixed with wrestling) reboot that focuses on that franchise's "loving detail to cuisine from around the world".
don't remind me about breath of fire 6 it still hurts
Apparently Capcom doesn't know shit about their own franchises now a days.
Honestly it's a wonder the monster hunter games haven't gone to shit.
Honestly it's a wonder the monster hunter games haven't gone to shit.
I mean they're just taking the same game basis and adding more and more shit on there and then reselling it for the same price almost every other year. They don't really have to try hard to make more money off of Monster Hunter, so they're not throwing it to outsourcing or the reboot / reimagining bin. Meanwhile pretty much every other franchise of theirs has been hit with that shit at some point or another, even Resident Evil, and things like this Mega Man cartoon are obvious attempts to stir and fish for new interest. They just alienate old fans in the process while never quite capturing new ones, though. Hell, even a lot of Street Fighter fans still feel burned about V.
This is fine!!! They will get it right one day!! Just don't become Sega and forgot like 80% of your IP...
You would think that the design used in Smash 4 being so popular would, you know, signify where the direction should go
unfortunately money =/= brains in alot of cases, i'll admit the sprite jumping over the logo at the end was a nice touch.
This series won't have anything to do with mainverse game series Classic Mega Man anyways, so I don't see how having his updated design from Smash would help clarify things any further.
Meanwhile over 20 years ago with a voice actor budget consisting of loose change found couch cushions:
Man, they really want that MEGANIZE catchphrase to catch on.
MEGANIZE ME!
Meganize yourself.

super figthing robot, meganized
This is like having a close friend from childhood die and just to add insult to injury some one digs up their body to sell illegally just to make some cash.

[editline]27th March 2017[/editline] Even the logo at the end of the trailer had classic Megaman just jumping and shooting around.
Wouldn't classic MM be easier to animate? He's just spheres and tubes
Another game that they unsuccessfully trying to ruin.
