why is tranny an offensive slur? I had the understanding that it was just a shorter variation of "transgendered'. is there any sort of negative connotation that I'm oblivious too?

honestly I don't think "it came from porn" is a good enough reason to deem it an offensive slur and even half of the article talks about reclaiming it. it'd be pretty counter-productive to just demonize it even more.
