I have to disagree with skyrim being 5th however, It should have been in the top 3.
No deus Ex? wow
Deus Ex HR was overpraised out the ass
I loved, loved, loved, Deus Ex.
Deus Ex HR was merely average.
Honestly, there was nothing special about it. It was good, but it's not something I can ever endlessly replay like the first one. Also, the game has major balance issues, and as a shooter is horribly designed. It really only works if you play it pacifist. Enemies were also horrendously unfair, even on Easy.
And don't get me started on Boss fights or complete lack of an ending
[editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
however, fantastic atmosphere, I did respect that
Singleplayer is like 10% of BF3.
Really though, they only included it to compete with Activision. Same goes for the Co-op, both just tacked on, but Co-op is fun(except for the fact there is no god damn split-screen).Ive owned and loved every battlefield(except heroes that was a piece of shit after beta) but the mw single-player was much better.

It was fucking great.

I hope by unfair you mean the enemies were too easy. My first playthrough was on the hardest difficulty and I went pacifist(didn't get the achievement due to either a bug or a mistake on my part, but I never intentionally killed anyone). The enemies were all pretty easy, I had trouble with the bosses, mainly because I didn't spend time collecting and upgrading lethal weapons and ammo.
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
Wait, how do you enjoy DNF but think DE: HR was average?
But BF3 was good
no as good as bad company 2 but still good

Tranquilizer/stun guns have a 1/100 chance of killing someone

Really? I'm enjoying BF3 more than I ever enjoyed BC2.
I just thought it was balanced a lot better
The amount of upgrades for vehicles is a good indicator of why I liked BC2 better
Also I thought the maps were cool too
Half of a game being good is no excuse for the other half to be shit.
Battlefields singleplayer is just to get newcomers adjusted to the style of gameplay so they wouldn't get slaughtered in online play, sort of a more cinematic replacement for multiplayer with bots like in BF2. Battlefield games are multiplayer games.
so basically he calls the game the worst game of the year because he didn't enjoy the tutorial portion of the game.
Ehh, I don't think Portal 2 is one of the top 5 games of 2011. Maybe top 10, but I didn't think it was that memorable or that amazing.
How did Portal 2 get first.
As much as I love the storytelling, co-op, and puzzles, I played it for about 10 hours and I never want to play it again. It has no replay value. I honestly don't see why people enjoy to the point that it was the best game of 2011.
And I suppose you wanted Skyrim to win? Games being good are about quality density, and Portal 2's quality density is higher than nearly every game ever made.

I can barely even name 5 games made in 2011 and you're saying Portal 2 isn't even on there?
[editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
Okay I lied about not being able to name 5 games but still
I enjoyed both Duke Nukem forever and Red faction:Guerrilla
Portal 2
Poorest replayability I've ever seen in any game.
I completely disagree.

Would you rather spend 10 hours playing skyrim or portal 2
[editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
like, pre you beating it
Skyrim game of year every year
Who cares if you can't play it again it was fucking great
Skyrim's not even that good.
All of the quests are essentially the same with exception to one or two.
It's just, go here, fight your way through a some enemies that you've already fought in a previous dungeon thousands of times, then do something minor and you complete the quest. Most quests don't feel like you've completed them, you're left with a sense of "Oh, did I complete the quest?"
There graphics aren't even that good, the art style is inconsistent, it's like they planned on having an art style but forgot about it half way through development. Sure characters may look better, but there's not much variation in the game, all the males are either huge and muscle-bound or skinny and twig-like; all the females are either twig-like or big titted maidens.
Characters lack personality's, whilst they don't shove themselves into your face, now they just stare at you like the Grady Twins whilst doing the same fucking task all day. The voice actors aren't that varied despite there apparently being over 70 of them. You just hear guards saying the same repeated catchphrases to you whenever you walk buy them.
Dragon fights are pointless and merely get in your way of exploring and questing. Exploring isn't proper exploring in this game though as you can't go into every place as a lot of them are locked via quest. You can't kill everyone as a lot of people are marked essential, now in a game where freedom should be key, there isn't that much freedom.
Crafting is stupid as you can level it up simply by making daggers, they could've implemented a thing that meant that after a while of gaining skill from it, you no longer gain skill from it, but no, you can become a master daedric smith with ease. Magic doesn't level with the rest of the game so spells become weaker and weaker with each level.
Then you have the most overpowered class type, Rogue, in which you crouch and kill everything instantly, which makes the game incredibly easy baring you don't get seen. Warriors are rather boring as you're generally hitting things with large weapons. There's also a lack of variety with weapons, spears, crossbows, throwing weapons, and a variety of different types of swords would've made a great contribution to the game, but you're left with axes, swords, daggers, hammers and bows, the most generic of all rpg weapons.
The main story isn't the best one ever conceived, but then you've got the civil war quest line where you have two distinct factions that hate each other and want to destroy each other. Or so they say. Because there isn't much evidence of a civil war in skyrim, there are no major non-quest related battles, occasionally you'll find a squad of soldiers being attacked by the Dominion, but that's only 4 people attacking each other, not a massive battle for land. The thieves guild and dark brotherhood quests are decent enough, but not without their own flaws such as bugs and being given a horse that is useless in this game due to fast travel.
On top of all these issues you've also got the gargantuan amount of bugs which would take forever to go through. After playing the game straight for more than 2 hours, the game starts to break up into tiny pieces, textures cease to load, models fuck up, dragons stop giving you their souls, physics engine bugs, quests stop functioning correctly, all of this topped off by a crash.
It had the potential to be a good game in my eyes, but it just feels like a rushed piece of shit. Perhaps if Bethesda didn't set the release date of 11.11.11 it could've been much better and polished. Fortunately we have the modding tools to look forward to, and this should help revitalise the game with better content and custom patches. I don't care though, I don't like this game.
You know you're doing something wrong if some of the wildlife in your dragon killing game is harder to kill than the damn dragons
I don't agree with his #1 bad games choices. Just because there are a lot of similar games does not mean that they are bad. If you don't like that genre, don't play it.

Reviews should be based on the quality of the games themselves, not whether or not you think there are too many like it.
Yahtzee himself admits that he doesn't REVIEW games. he just takes the piss out of them. Like AVGN.
bastion is a good game, but not better than Arkham city, deus ex or even skyrim
his list really confuses me

You liked BC2 better because it has less vehicle upgrades? So you like games that have less content?
Stop liking what I don't like
No
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
It was unbalanced, there were too many upgrades you could equip at the same time
also more 'content' isn't always a good thing
you can attach about 7 different things to your gun in MW games but does that make it good for gameplay or does it make it a better game?
I don't think so
No

In a way it does make it a better game when it has a large effect on gameplay and allows you to customize your weapons to fit your needs. The way MW does it isn't very good but BF3 really lets you do whatever you want with your gun. That's a good thing.
I'm not talking about the guns
I'm saying I don't want a tank shooting at me with beefed up armor, thermal vision, a deadly accurate HMG or a accurate and consistent LMG, with a commander spotting me for the two guys already shooting at me while another two OP upgrade tanks join in on the fun
And it gets worse, the tank has a guided shell so now I can't really get anywhere without getting fucked up.

You can only have 3 of them on at a time and none of them make the tank indestructible. You just have to change the way you go against the tank depending on what he has on, which makes the gameplay more varied and thus better.
Dude I own the game, it's overpowered
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
It doesn't make it fun, it makes it impossible to run, or hide

Not really. None of the upgrades make the tank that much harder to avoid.
