Your mind blurs it regardless, or at least its supposed to. it always looks worse with a double layering.
Your mind does not blur shit. You can perceive fps a lot higher than 30. Motion blur is added to trick your mind into thinking the footage is smoother than it is. Without it your mind can actually see the minimal choppiness present. That's why 30fps movies use heavy motion blur while 48 ones feel weird at first because they have more real frames.

This resulted in a 1.35 TB raw file at 2400 FPS. I can see why he'd need to upgrade to pull a higher res.
But I did no motion blur processing on it. I only did frame blending. Also 2400fps is not needed. Even 1200fps is completely overkill. I did that video ONLY for the purposes of being a complete bitch to do. It's a challenge.

I explain motion blur as encoded motion information. If you see a single frame of something with something motion blurred, you know where it came from or where it's going. Your brain can decode that information. Having motion blur in regular FPS video like 24 or 30, gives the brain subtle information it can use to decode and create a more realistic image.

I was going to send him $200 but now I don't think I am.
[sp]Does that make me an asshole?[/sp]

I don't see why. He got what he requested. So he's good to go.
Christ he might as well get a new computer
Would an SSD make as much of a difference as getting a new processor? I mean it is the processor that is processing and rendering the video and so having higher read/write speeds wouldn't seem to make as much of a difference in render time for the video. I guess it would help with editing in the motion blur but really a faster processor with more memory and cores would seem to speed up the rendering process and compilation process
The SSD would help a bunch during the initial capture, but you're right, in almost every other instance the processor and ram is a severe bottleneck.
I think it's due to the initial capture that he wants the ssd, imagine how long it takes to record an episode, just to have one small hdd stutter fuck it all up
Very informative, here's hoping that after freeman's mind is done he will move on to other projects, or hopefully continue civil protection. Civil Protection with the power of source filmmaker would be pretty cool.
Civil Protection was my favourite machinima for a time.

I don't think it does, but you could still chip in 5 or 10 bucks and have the satisfaction of knowing you bought him a week's worth of beans.

Beans he'll eat after a long day of editing a Freeman's Mind episode.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. Also it was left on quite a big cliffhanger with the most "recent" episode, with that Lovecraft-mad citizen, that weird energy ghost, and the indescribable crawling things that presumably encased the cops in weird gunk.

i thought part two for that came out already
Jesus, people actually donated 12k and more. Well, Freeman's Mind is going to be finished this year.

it came out a while ago
[editline]17th March[/editline]
but yeah part two also ended on a cliffhanger, i guess you just assume that they escaped somehow and no one ever noticed dave was crazy (cos he's dave)
