I liked Killing Floor 1's the most. Sounds and anim are so satisfying. Especially the sounds.
iirc KF1's gun sounds and anims was heavily praised by DICE and influenced some of their work on Battlefield.
Ubisoft's guns are so shit. In that clip from Ghost Recon Wildlands the shell hitting the ground makes a bigger noise than the gun firing.
ah fuck i've never been able to put my finger on it. the only guns thats sounded good to me in cod were a couple of the sniper rifles because they do have that loud thud to them. the smgs and pistols (and shotguns sometimes) have always sounded more like a fucking stapler than a firearm.
It's something that a lot of games and movies don't get right. It reminds me of this story from the production of Heat where they originally edited the original firefight audio by replacing all the gunshots in the typical Hollywood way, but Michael Man requested that they leave in the original sounds because of the way the gunshots echo in an urban environment is terrifying in a way that is difficult to replicate. Squad has really good recording of weapons so i hope they keep up improving
the Dead Island M9 (and Call of Juarez's as well) sounds nearly identical to Serious Sam 3's deagle As for my favourites, it's either got to be the thermonuclear reactor KF1 9mm, or BFBC2's hollywood rendition of its sound
