Sorry to say that but you really are overthinking my post
Sorry, I think I actually got confused there since I wasn't replying to you at first. Consider my previous post directed to Tools (and to you to a lesser extent since you seem to agree with theirs). I'm not sure how
Germany trying too hard to cover up it's old image Just look at how TOLERATE we are!
in a thread titled '"I also wear the Hijab, it's beautiful!" - Bizarre German TV Ad Campaign advertises Veil to Girls' means anything else than 'this is a show-off video', unless it's randomly bashing Germans for the sake of it (in which case I'd like to point out that most of us here practice what we preach to (more or less) ourselves. A bit of tolerance towards people dressing differently in this regard goes a long way towards avoiding and solving issues with integration, and that's really all this video asks for).
Nice display of mental gymnastics, friend.
I'm not the one calling everyone who disagrees with me a communist.
Wouldn't it be vaguely offensive to wear a hijab without the proper dress or being a Muslim? [editline]19-Sep-16[/editline] Off-topic but I always found the Hijab/Burkha to be a tricky subject. I found as I've met and become friends or acquaintances with more Muslim women; that generally older more educated women from richer parts of the Middle East like Iran or the UAE generally don't like wearing the Burkha or Hijab with some going so far to say they hate it and when they move to countries where it isn't law or the social norm they generally don't continue to wear it. I find that the less educated younger women from poorer countries like: Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan etc. are the ones more keen on it and continue to wear it out of country, but I do think they do so partially out of pressure from their families and maybe a more conservative spouse. I think some second generation immigrants just wear it as a statement more than anything too. Either choice is fine in my opinion; wear it or don't. I just kind of speculate in the future as widespread Islam continues to become more progressive we will see more women drop the Hijab/Burkha.
You mean SH, aka "/leftypol/'s satellite"?
I've heard users moan that SH is an alt-right haven and all that, first time hearing it's a leaftypol.. do we frequent the same SH?
I've heard users moan that SH is an alt-right haven and all that, first time hearing it's a leaftypol.. do we frequent the same SH?
In all fairness, now that Killuah is perma'd, SH is a bit more pleasant.

I already imagined everyone in here is went batshit insane at this ad
I agree. For some damn reason they think they're the only ones who speak the truth, and any exchange of ideas or attempt at presenting/commenting on other points of view gets instantly discarded, ridiculed, or worse. SH is not there to gravitate towards a handful of "pre-approved" ideas, it's supposed to also be a forum where conversation should be encouraged, but sometimes I find it stifling, in a "going against the grain" way, when you elaborate on something but people still pigeon-hole your arguments, which is fine, but when the sole purpose of doing that is to just prove you how wrong you are, and how right they are, then it's rather pointless. Killuah was a major pain in the ass when it came to that sort of thing, specially fueled by some of his "yeah, you tell 'em Killuah!" enablers.
Wouldn't it be vaguely offensive to wear a hijab without the proper dress or being a Muslim? [...]
I don't know about that for certain myself, but I think here it's usually not seen as 'exclusive(ly)' religious symbol. That may partially be because 'Kopftuch', while also used for specifically these, is a really wide category that covers all kinds of headscarves. Generally speaking, the notion of cultural appropriation isn't really a thing in Germany either and people here are a lot more difficult to offend than e.g. in the US. While I don't know about people with foreign cultural background, the amount of other people who'd consider it significantly offensive is probably very low (unless you'd go out of your way to make it so).
Disgusting. At least the nationalist movements around Europe are growing in full force tho. So this won't last long.

That's just being an abrasive dick to groups of people (or one person, in the Hillary case). Most of the heated arguments start because most people surprisingly dislike downright hostile rhetoric. Who knew.
