Well, if she's not allowed to go home you might as well let her stay in prison.
That judge is an awful judge and an awful person.
We are not going to lock you in cage, deprive you of your human liberties and fuck up your life if you say "Fuck you" so the comparison is invalid.
Touche, starpluck.
Well, this is why you don't verbally attack authority figures. You have to be pretty stupid to talk back to a judge or a police officer.
Respect is always earned, never inherent. A judge or a cop needs to earn their respect just like everyone else. If you're gonna lose your cool and abuse your power, you're certainly not earning anything but justified anger.
Yes, the lady was snappy. No, that does not justify the judge's decision.
what a prick
if you wanna be a judge you gotta be fully aware that people get pissed off at you when you sentence them, fuck off
Lmao it wasn't even a sentencing...
He was reading the charges..she just got arrested and was doing charges/rights.
That is why he set bail and bond terms. She wasn't even going to trial yet, the case wasn't even forwarded to her defense. She basically ran her mouth for no reason instead of shutting up and letting her court appointed attorney work some magic when he got the case.
Our structure of government is so odd.
If we have an issue with our legislative branch, we can say "hey Representative Johnson, fuck you and fuck the TPP" and they have to smile and take it
If I'm a racist fuckhead and don't like the executive branch, I can say "Yo Obama, go the FUCK back to Africa!"
But if a judge hands down some decision, and I disagree with it, the best I can hope for is "Excuse me sir that's not fa- oh, I was speaking out of turn? I apologize your honor"
I think that there ought to be rules in court, such that people don't give outbursts and disrupt court, but someone should be allowed to say "fuck you" to the Judge and get away with it. Why does 1st amendment only apply to 2 branches of government?

At 2:48 The judge turns to his side and whispers to someone else "I'm just gonna scare him" — ends up with 4 months in jail.

"I don't like this guys tone; I'm just gonna go ahead and ruin his life"
120 days? That's easily enough to ruin someone's life. That's 4 fucking months because of this pudgy little fuck's ego.
Even if I said "fuck you pig" to a cop, there's no legal statute afaik that says he can arrest me just for that. Now, he can proceed a number of ways that, legally, would make it not a good idea to do that.
You dinks really think its a good idea to set a precedent that everyone can mouth off to a judge calling him a worthless piece of shit? Who would want that job knowing every sentence would follow a verbal barrage?

If you give someone 300 days for some bad words, you really need to reconsider your position as a judge. He should be fired as he demonstrated he's not fit to judge people. As to answer your question, for 100k salary I'd take daily verbal abuse in no time.
Always thought contempt of court was bullshit, not only does it restrict free speech but most of the time it doesn't give the accused a chance to fight the charges.
I actually have a friend who just was released from jail who was in there for a week for contempt.
He was at a custody hearing and the judge was on about who was going to get the kid, and the judge pointed at my friend and said, "it sure won't be this guy!" My friend replied with "Bullshit!"
He was sentenced to jail for 7 days for one word.

Can sleep safely knowing justice has been served for his monstrosities.

Any accused has the right to speak for his own defense. That is a well known established rule. But if you have serious issues with your mouth and can't shut up when people speaks, you deserve to be thrown in jail, maybe not for 300 days, but for 2-3 days to reflect your behaviour.

?????
I was incredibly close to getting those sorts of conditions put on me 5years ago.
Luckily I had evidence that unequivocally contradicted affidavits made by the other party and their relatives - whereby they would have committed perjury by pushing the prosecution to continue with their bullshit and facetious case.
That is one of the reasons why I am so glad how legally conscious I am in my day-to-day happenings.
As a result of the legal burden being placed on me, it cost my family several thousand dollars to get a lawyer to defend me.
As for the video, I have no idea of the circumstances surrounding her ending up in that courtroom, but to have those sort of restrictions placed on movement shouldn't be taken so lightly from a legal perspective.

Try that and I guarantee you that you will sleep for a night behind bars. You don't interrupt lawyers and judges when they argue. You can only speak when you are allowed by the judge, like in the case of this lady.

Just because it is so does not mean it should be or that it's ok to be so.

I'm not saying it is ok, but sometime the judge has not other option but to lock him up for a day because he won't stop ranting. I do however agree that contempt of court should be used as a last resort after other alternatives have been used (penalty fees, throw him out of the room for a min, call the baillif, etc.). Courts should have a minimum of decorum just like any house of commons.

A day I can understand, but 300 days for saying something stupid? Just no.

Obviously 300 days is not only wrong but it's disproportionate, legally speaking. I worked for the prosecutor's office here in Canada a few years ago and the worst I've seen was 3 days non consecutive.
they're both as childish as each other.
so if you have tourettes syndrome you could go to jail for life technically according to this judge..

You could get out of it because it is a condition though
Lol what a stupid bitch. Maybe she should start caring about her life and what her actions entail.
This is nothing new thats happened. Typically you want to respect the guy who comes up with your sentence
poor black lady get thrown in jail while old white judge flies to taiwan and fucks a 12 year old
If you're that emotionally fragile why would you be a judge in the first place?
Missing the point 101, it's not about the judge's emotional fragility, it's about setting the precedent in a courtroom. If you let calling everyone a cunt slide in a courtroom, the whole thing will descend into chaos and you totally lose the concept of a fair trial

somebody got sent to jail for 300 days without a trial simply because a man had a temper tantrum
it was extremely arbitrary too. american justice reminds me of a medieval king whos a teenager and decides to get revenge on somebody he doesn't like
