I feel your pain bro, I feel your pain...
L4D disk was actually resistant :v:
I dont know if you could take such a person seriously. Just like as NachoPiggy had shown with the guy's Youtube page.
haloguy234 is right though, he could had given the games to someone else. But, You dont know whats in this guy's head.
This guy is just expressing how he feels about video games. He's saying that video games are a big distraction to his life, and is showing how they are "devils" to him. If he wants to break them, do it
I did cringe a bit when he broke them like that, but he should be able to do what he thinks is right, when it's his money and life

It's his choice true but that does not make his actions less childish.
If he was rational he would simply remove or throw away those objects. However, he intended to destroy these items on camera to try and prove himself to be better or more loyal.
One could also suggest he merely wanted justification to be destructive.
If you look even closer at this you will notice that this is merely a medium away from book burning. It is absolutely heinous.
Objectively he can be called an asshole if you refer to his channel page.
All things I have stated can be proven if need be.
If he's being a loyal muslim or whatever then why did he buy those games in the first place?
Has anyone tried getting the cd key from his Starcraft yet?
Eh, its his religious beliefs, I have no right to ju-

"Could just be looking for a justification for being destructive"
"Medium away from book burning - absolutely heinous"
They're just video games.
His reason for taping is likely just to send a message to (presumably) other Muslims to break their game habit.
You're taking it unnecessarily serious and reaching to erroneous conclusions as a result.
A video game is still a video game, no matter what system it's played on.
It was a joke bro. It was for the tons of PC elitists on this forum.

I am sorry but are you serious?
You do not see the similarity between breaking a dvd because you disagree with it's content and burning a book because you disagree with it's content?
It IS heinous.

The content in this case is just a video game.
I hold books on a much higher regard than video games, especially with the immense history attached to books and its contributions to society as well as the negative stigma and side effects video games entail.
Of course you'll disagree however, seeing as you seem to highly value video games

And if someone in Israel burned Palestinian novels on camera and said others should do so as well, you would not be angry?
The medium has changed since our entire history. Would you weigh a joke in a stone tablet to be more important content-wise than Shakespeare's work on a dvd?
Do you not understand that it is not the medium of the content but the content itself that is what is important?
You are either a hypocrite or blind to not see what these actions are.
There are many things that should be tolerated, but the attempt to deny or attempt to destroy history simply because you disagree with it should never be tolerated. It is what kept us back for centuries and it will keep us back lest it is prevented.
And if someone in Israel burned Palestinian novels on camera and said others should do so as well, you would not be angry?
Irrelevant and don't even go there.

You resorted to talk about DVDs as a medium of content when you clearly knew the subject at hand was video games, not the actual DVD, as a medium of content.
Hence why I stated I hold books on a much higher regard than video games, not DVDs regardless of what it contains. In some straw man attempt, you shifted a few words around to try and make it seem as if I implied books hold higher value than DVDs regardless of the content within the DVD.
Which is a pathetic move on your part.

You still don't understand the most basic concept of this argument.
It is content being destroyed simply because someone disagrees with it.
If you can't understand that then I am sorry but you probably never will.
This doesn't have any relevance to the subject.
Tell me, why doesn't it apply?
Is it not someone destroying content based on a inane criteria and claiming others should as well?
Your entire argument so far has been "It's just games"
Are you the definer of what is important?
Do you define what is alright to be destroyed because of some inane ramblings of a 20 year old?
When you try to draw a line it will be pushed till it becomes meaningless.

You need to get off that high-horse of yours including the overly simplified statements.
It's not a matter of destroying content simply because he disagrees with it, but you believe so since you're showing clear signs of a 'black and white' output, when judging on his actions.
He has a habit of playing video games which is evidenced by his large video game collection and what he's doing. He wants to break this habit completely as he sees that video games brings detrimental factors into his life. You cannot dispute this fact, when applying it to an addicted gamer.
To end this habit he destroys the video games.
This is not remotely similar to destroying content you disagree with.
An example of such would be, the Nazis burning the Jewish books, Taliban destroying the Buddha statues and Terry Jones
He's merely breaking his habit, it shouldn't be that hard to differentiate.
[editline]26th July 2011[/editline]
You're implying as if he's purchasing games for no other reason but to destroy them.
You did not watch the video.
This wasn't him destroying the games to help himself with an addiction.
This was him explicitly saying that they are wrong.

No he is not, within the first 2 minutes he claims that they are morally wrong.
This IS destroying content you disagree with.
This IS the mindset that propogated the Nazis burning the Jewish books, Taliban destroying the Buddha statues.
And this IS the exact same thing as if a 20 year old Isreali man said that Palestinian novels were morally wrong and should be burned.
No, that is something you pulled up yourself. I never said or implied he purchased anything for any reason, I was talking about him destroying the objects.
By the way
Some say it is not Haram to play videogames in your spare time, I disagree with them because if that was the case then you can drink alcohol when you have free time and you don't have to get drunk and take a couple sips that's fine.

The reason why I think that they are totally wrong is because they are practicing something called zendawa
Struggling to snap a disc.
Thinks he will burn in 'hell fire' for playing games/
Brain dead
What's wrong with burning books? They can make good fuel if you're stuck in a chilly situation. The key behind why burning literature is a heinous act is understanding the intentions behind it. It is often done to prevent the spread of certain ideas or knowledge.
How exactly does this equate to destroying video games? I'm sure we are all familliar with how addictive a game can be. This man believes that his video games soak up too much of his life and he decides to break them on camera to make a statement, encouraging others to follow. Is this really comparable to burning a book because you disagree with its opinions? Sure, it may be a rather extreme approach to the situation, but it's far from book-burning.
If he did not mention anything related to religion in his video, I'm sure no one would complain as much as they are. Actually, I can even see people applauding him and following him.
Uh, so am I meant to be taking this guy seriously or what?
I believe he said "is not" as opposed to "is now."
If he were merely deleting them from his hard drive you would not whine like this either.

Yes, I have, and to really understand where he's getting at you have to first observe a debate regarding video games that has been taking place in the Muslim community for a while. Muslims believe that time is precious and that excessively wasting time is morally wrong. He believes his gaming habit excessively wastes time and he wishes to stop it; though he makes a rather weak argument against it

That still comes down to destroying the games because he believes they are morally wrong.
Destroying content because he disagrees with it.
