Obviously a training grenade, they dont have much of a charge in them, still would injur him pretty nasty.
here's a video of live M67 grenades
Its about as hard as throwing any kind of small ball I assume. And if you can fuck up throwing a small ball, you can fuck up throwing a grenade.
I have a gutted Mk 2 Pineapple grenade, and that thing's casing is pretty damn heavy. It weighs about a pound. A baseball is around 5.5 ounces, so there's quite a difference in weight. Granted, this is a Mk 2 Pineapple, which I believe was phased out of service after Vietnam and replaced with the M67. I imagine that an M67 is actually much lighter, probably way more like a baseball.
My point is that grenades are definitely heavier than you expect them to be.
It's more like throwing a rock that size than a ball

I had a friend who handled the practice grenades just fine; he was calm and had a great throw. But when it came to getting in line for the live M67 , he tried sneaking into the group that had already gone. I guess he cracked thinking about holding a real grenade in his hand. They caught him when there were still grenades which hadn't been thrown after everyone went.
How's the guy's hand?
He's probably not a very handy man now.
Imagine how bad he feels, having no hand. If I was him, I'd get so mad I'd just explode.
